Enjoy the long open decks, large screened porch, beautiful butterfly garden and private boardwalk to the beach from this five-bedroom, four-bath sanctuary. Plus, Varuna's location lets you relish ocean sunsets and enjoy quick and easy access to ALL BHI has to offer. Inside this retreat, you'll discover three levels of comfort and fun. Enter the light-filled first level-it features grand open living areas with tiled floors and ocean panoramas through walls of glass. Don't miss the custom, inlaid tile compass right inside the front door. The gathering space provides comfy furniture, a flat screen, interesting books and loads of puzzles and games. There's also a game table cornered by two walls of glass.
The interior dining space also includes two glass walls: one with views of the ocean and the other granting peeks at the cardinals who call the sculpted junipers and Island holly just outside their home. No matter which way you look, there is something interesting to see. If dining al fresco is your preference, feast on the spacious screened porch with its vistas of the Atlantic fronted by the dunes' swaying sea oats. Close by both dining areas is a fantastic chef's kitchen with plenty of counter space for meal prep as well as all the equipage you could want for snacking, serving and socializing. A Primary King Master Suite is located on this main level and offers a private sitting area, direct deck access, inspiring ocean prospects and a large bathroom with dual sinks and plenty of counter and storage space.
Half a flight up is another Owner Suite presenting a Queen bed and dual-sink full bath. Both of these spotlight custom ceilings with lighted cupolas for added ambiance. Ten steps up from the second suite is Varuna's top floor and a circular deck that dazzles with spectacular ocean perspectives. It's one of the best spots to savor Bald Head's glorious sunsets. There are also two additional bedrooms on this level with two Twins each, a full bath and a central gathering area featuring a snug couch and TV as well as more games, puzzles and children's books.
Varuna's crofter offers a very private and comfortable Queen suite with a full bath and direct deck access. Other accoutrements this property provides are a gas grill, outdoor shower, internet access, and two golf carts. Varuna does not have bikes or beach chairs. There are bicycle rental companies on the island for your vacation fun. Please let us know if we can assist in securing some bikes for your stay. Just remember, under both the sun and the moon, a week or more at Varuna is time well-spent!

Summary: Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were probably the first rental for the 2024 summer season and it showed that the house was not ready for guests.To prepare for a successful rental WWP should have gone in the house at a minimum 1 week prior to test and run water and test and run AC. 1. Because the water had not been run and sat in a water tank it smelled like rotten eggs for two days. Not a great smell for vacation.2. AC did not work in 3 bedrooms and upstairs loft. It was temporarily repaired by a hvac tech while we were there but it only worked 1 day. Had it been super hot this would have been a major issue for us.Varuna house is set up well for families. It is a nice, spacious layout with many extra design details. The kitchen was very well stocked for all your cooking needs. The beverage fridge was nice to have. It even had spices! We really liked the large screen porch and decks for seating. The large dining table sat three families comfortably. We had friends staying close by and had nightly dinners together.
