Playa del Carmen is home to several beautiful beaches, and you’ll never be far from a stretch of powdery white sand during your stay. Playacar Beach is one of the best and is just a few minutes from the city center.
Playacar is an upmarket gated community home to many of the city’s expats and wealthy local families. The beach, however, is public but tends to be much quieter than those closer to Downtown Playa del Carmen, so you’ll likely have a sizeable section of the beach all to yourself.
There aren’t many amenities nearby, so bring water and snacks. Don’t forget to pack your snorkel, too — this is an excellent spot for exploring the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea.
