Summary: We had a fabulous visit in Costa Rica -- and we agreed the best part of it was Shanta Pura -- with a pool in the middle of the home's living space and plenty of room for playing, cooking, dining, relaxing, games and even puzzles. It is ideal for a family of 8 - two master suites and baths up and two other nice bedrooms and baths by the pool. The furnishings were top notch, a great background for wonderful art in every room and handsome accessories that suited the space. And when we arrived after a 2-hour van ride from the airport, our wonderful chef and her assistant were already preparing our first meal -- what a welcome! The whole experience was like being in a movie; and the staff was friendly, professional, and helped us with everything from transportation and reservations for fishing, surfing lessons and dining. The only thing we were not fully prepared for was the local's preference for payment in US cash dollars for most services. All in all, Shanta Pura and Nosara provided an amazing setting to celebrate our 80th birthdays with all our family. Thank you Rick Wilkins, Grace, Heidi and the howler monkeys in the treetops! It was for sure beyond our expectations -- and then some.
