Welcome to Superior Pine Tree Lodge!
Our goal is to create a space where you and your family will want to return year after year for your family vacation. Located just north of Duluth, the Lodge is within an hour's drive of five different State Parks. For ski enthusiasts, Spirit Mountain is a half hour's drive south and Lutsen is 75 minutes north.
The two story wall of windows facing the lake lets you enjoy the sights and sounds of Lake Superior. It is fascinating to watch the lake change through the seasons, and even day-to-day. You can watch the 1,000 foot ships as they come in and out of the port of Duluth from several rooms in the Lodge.
Our home has four bedrooms on three levels, so if you travel with your extended family, every family can have their own floor. Each floor has a 3/4 or full bathroom. There is a traditional wood sauna on the lower level.
Old Scenic Hwy 61 runs past our front door. For running enthusiasts, Grandma's Marathon runs right past the Lodge. The half marathon starting line is steps from the front door of the Lodge. No need to deal with the crazy race day traffic! Bicycling enthusiasts enjoy cycling Old Hwy 61 between Duluth and Two Harbors.
You are within a half hour's drive to Split Rock Lighthouse and Gooseberry Falls. Palisade Head and Tettegouche State Park are a few miles further up Highway 61. The Superior Hiking Trail is a few miles inland from the Lodge. You can hike for miles through forests, along ridges, rivers, waterfalls and lakes. The North Shore is beautiful in every season. You are invited to come explore the North Shore's wonders by day and relax in comfort at night.
The Midwest's best downhill skiing is just 75 minutes away at Lutsen. Spirit Mountain is 30 minutes south and boasts a terrain park, as well as ski hills and trails. Spirit Mountain also has a variety of activities to be enjoyed in the summer, including an Alpine Coaster. Fun for the whole family! Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock both have beautiful, groomed cross country ski trails. You can also rent snowshoes and explore the wilderness.
The floor to ceiling windows on the front of the house ensure a view of the lake from both the main and second floor. The gourmet kitchen, complete with Jenn-Air appliances, will make any chef or baker's day. The three season porch off the kitchen is perfect for enjoying your morning coffee or your evening hot chocolate. (The local deer frequently make an appearance in our woods at all hours of the day and evening.) The walkout basement leads to a yard with a fire pit and plenty of level ground for yard games.
*The basement is heated via in-floor radiant heat. The main and upper floors are heated and cooled via mini split units.
*The Lodge has a 55" Smart TV in the rec room, and a 42" Smart TV in the living room and the master bedroom. All televisions have Netflix and Amazon Prime. There are HD antennas, which provide local channels.
*Main floor has two bedrooms, both with a king bed. The main floor bathroom has a soaking tub.
*Upstairs has one bedroom with a full-sized bed and a 3/4 bathroom (shower) down the hall.
*Basement has one bedroom with a king bed. The bathroom is split into a powder room and a room with a wooden sauna (brand new sauna unit) and shower.
*Loft has a day bed with a twin mattress and twin trundle with access to upstairs bathroom.
