Positive: 1st off I liked Amanda who was at the front desk. She seemed to be very down to earth (tell it like it is w/o drama) and also appeared to be a friendly and caring person. She gave me directions to everything in the house and I was able to find my bedroom, bathroom, lounge/reading & game room and the kitchen quite easily.. She and/or Staff keep all the common areas clean but also instruct us guests to be mindful of the messes we make. Being a communal house it's expected of each person to do their part. Anyone who has stayed in a hostel would understand that part.

Negative: The City structure! My phone battery died and I couldn't find a simple paper map of the City. It wouldn't have mattered tho' as many of the streets aren't marked. I bought a 3 day RTA pass for unlimited rides. I was on and off many of the street cars and buses because I kept going in the wrong direction. Again No street signs to show directions (N- E- W - S). My last night on Bourbon Street I walked for 3 hours asking how to get back to Site 61. I got a load of conflicting answers and was always pointed in the wrong direction ( I know because I walked in each one!). Before I realized it, after all the walking I did - I was close, too close to try another bus or streetcar. Tho' I was within about 5 blocks of the Hostel it still took me another hour and 15 minutes to find it. In some of the reviews people said the area was sketchy/scary and maybe so for a single female or someone just afraid of the dark. However, as a 70 year old, worn out from hours of walking - I didn't find it so bad. Where I live in Florida there is a lot of gunplay and it's not unusual to go to sleep with the sound of gunfire so, no I wasn't worried about the surroundings of Site 61 at night. I noticed one of the toilets had a small leak so a little money would go a long way to make a few needed repairs. But again, I've lived in worse situations so I could appreciate the overall way of the house. It's a good business and I wish I would have [thought of opening one up in Florida (years ago!). At the bottom of this is a place for photos of my stay... While in the house I concentrated on rest and relaxation and a bit of meditating. Taking Photos is what I went to Mardi Gras for! Boobs and More Boobs!!! Unlike the Gentlemans clubs back home where we have to pay to see them, on Bourbon Street they're all free! 😋
