Well, the good news is that there is an incredible variety of indoor activities and attractions on offer in Orlando. Here are our top recommendations for rainy day indoor activities in Orlando.

Go Color Crazy at the Crayola Experience

The Crayola Experience is a totally unique place spread over 70,000 square feet and two stories at The Florida Mall. It’s home to the world’s largest selection of Crayola products and unique souvenirs. There are 26 hands-on activities for children and adults of all ages, all encouraging creativity and fun with color.

Transform your old crayons into something new at Melt & Mold, or catch digitally melted wax in your hands at the Rainbow Rain attraction. Check out the live manufacturing show to see how crayons are made, where experts will let you in on Crayola’s methods.

You can also create your own collection from 99 of Crayola’s most popular colors and even make your own keepsake with a named and wrapped crayon!

Next Level Fun at iFLY Orlando Indoor Skydiving

Race to Andretti Indoor Karting & Games

Put your pedal to the metal to take on hairpin bends and long straights during this authentic indoor racing experience.

Andretti Indoor Karting & Games attracts novices, expert drivers, and adrenaline junkies of all ages. The company uses the best electric go-kart in the industry: the Biz Kart Ecovolt GT.

These karts have instant acceleration and are very powerful, but they are also ergonomically designed, safe, and environmentally friendly. The track itself is also climate-controlled, and Mini Mario karts are available for smaller drivers (4-7 years old).

When your race is over, be sure to check out Andretti’s other attractions. From classic arcade games to laser tag and state-of-the-art VR experiences, there are lots of fun things for everyone to try, and all under one roof!

Andretti closes late every day (you can play until 1 am on Fridays and Saturdays) and has full dining available in its onsite restaurants and bars.

It Never Rains at Dezerland Park!

Dezerland Action Park is Florida’s largest indoor attraction, and at over 850,000 square feet is the size of 15 football fields! Here, you’ll find fun for all the family with Florida’s longest indoor go-kart track, boutique bowling, and over 300 video games and arcade games on site.

Dezerland is also home to the Orlando Auto Museum. This is Florida’s largest auto museum and is home to more than 2,000 vehicles. Visitors can take selfies with the Batmobile in the Bat Cave or the DeLorean from Back to the Future. The Auto Museum also has the world’s largest collection of James Bond vehicles and memorabilia.

Dezerland is open from 11 am each day and closes between 10 pm and 12 am, depending on the day.

Shop ‘Til You Drop at Orlando’s Malls

Orlando is home to some of the best malls in Florida, and a rainy day is a perfect excuse to get your retail therapy fix. Here are two of our favorites.

The Mall at Millenia

The Mall at Millenia is one of Orlando’s most luxurious shopping destinations and houses over 150 stores and restaurants, including 40 market exclusives. Global brands, including Hermùs, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Apple, sit alongside one another in Millenia’s stunning surroundings of breathtaking glass ceilings and unique art pieces.

This award-winning center is just a few minutes from Orlando’s theme parks and Orlando International Airport, making it a convenient place for visitors to explore.

Head down from 11 to 9 pm Mondays to Fridays, 10 am to 9 pm on Saturdays, and 11 am to 7 pm on Sundays.

The Florida Mall

The Florida Mall is Central Florida’s largest shopping center, spanning 1.8 million square feet and welcoming over 20 million visitors every year.

This all-encompassing shopping center is home to the Crayola Experience, The Disney Store, and more than 250 other retail, dining, and entertainment options, making it suitable for the whole family.

The on-site Dining Pavilion caters to all appetites, with 23 restaurants and eateries offering an expansive array of dining choices.

The Florida Mall is located only a few minutes from the area’s popular attractions, including Walt Disney World Resort, making it a convenient place to visit on an Orlando day out. Opening hours differ from day to day and can be found on the official website.

Experience the Excitement of Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!

Welcome to the world of Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, where truth is stranger than fiction. Located on International Drive, this 10,000-square-foot attraction looks like it’s falling into a Florida sinkhole! But don’t worry; the Odditorium is perfectly safe and filled with amazing, hair-raising, truly unbelievable exhibits.

Robert Ripley was a world-famous traveler and started collecting curiosities more than 100 years ago. At Ripley’s Believe It or Not! there are 16 unique galleries showing all sorts of artifacts, displays, and weird stuff to entertain the whole family. Check out the wax hands exhibit to create your own unique (and bizarre) souvenir.

Ripley’s is open from 10 am and closes at 10 pm Sundays to Thursdays and 11 pm Fridays and Saturdays. The attraction is closed on Mondays. Tickets can be bought on the official website.

Dive Deep into the Sea Life Orlando Aquarium

SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium is one of many incredible attractions at ICON Park on International Drive.

This educational experience is filled with family fun, including a jelly wall, an Indian Ocean exhibit, and a fantastic children’s play area. With an upgraded ticket, families can also get involved in the regular feeding frenzies, where your group can capture a once-in-a-lifetime photo while feeding a swarm of tangs.

The real highlight of SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium is the incredible view from Orlando’s only 360-degree underwater ocean tunnel. Here, you can watch as fish, sharks, turtles, rays, and eels swim just above your head.

For a more hands-on experience, check out the Coastal Rockpool exhibit where, if you are feeling brave, you can touch real sea creatures in their micro-habitats.

Tickets for this super fun day out can be purchased in advance on the website. The aquarium is open from daily 11 am to 6 pm (7 pm on Fridays and Saturdays), with the last admission at 5 pm and 6 pm, respectively.

Epic Axe Throwing

Release your inner Viking at Epix Axe Throwing. This high-octane indoor activity in Downtown Orlando is all about having fun with some healthy competition added into the mix. Compete with your friends by throwing axes at wooden targets in this game of strength and skill to see who will be the chief of your group.

Catering for groups from 6 to 60 people, Epic Axe Throwing is a great option for some rain-free fun in Orlando. Each group has an axe coach on hand to keep you safe and to help get you started.

You can bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks for a low-budget day out, but drinks and snacks are also served here (axe throwing is hungry work, after all).

Advanced bookings are encouraged for larger groups, but smaller groups of less than four people don’t need to book. Opening hours differ depending on the size of your group, so check the website to plan ahead.

Celebrity Spotting at Madame Tussauds Orlando

Meet all of your favorite celebrities and superheroes at Madame Tussauds Orlando: Florida’s home of wax figures of Hollywood A-listers, sports icons, and chart-topping musicians.

The figures are divided into separate zones, including History & Leaders, Sports, and A-List Party, making your favorites easy to find. Selfies are encouraged and will make a fun addition to your family photo album!

Madame Tussauds is open from 11 am until 6 pm Sundays to Fridays and 11 am to 7 pm on Saturdays. Tickets can be bought online in advance or in person on the day of your visit.

The Mind-Blowing Museum of Illusions

The Museum of Illusions Orlando in ICON Park is internationally acclaimed for bringing magic to life with jaw-dropping exhibits and visuals that seem to defy gravity. This museum is a unique display of optical illusions and a guaranteed feast for your senses (and your camera roll).

Learn about vision, perspective, and the human brain during a wonderful journey through this wacky world of the weird and unusual. Check out the tilted room and the swirling vortex tunnel, where you will be left wondering which way is up!

Wonder at Pointe Orlando

Pointe Orlando is the ultimate entertainment center that features a huge selection of restaurants, stores, and attractions. There are six themed “Wonder Zones,” with indoor laser tag, a ropes course, and lots of other fun activities for visitors of all ages. There are also plenty of mouth-watering dining options and bars to choose from, including Cuba Libre Cuban restaurant and Blue Martini tapas bar.

There’s plenty of parking on site, including valet options. Most venues are open daily from 11 am to 9 pm but check the website to plan your visit ahead of time.

Believe the Unbelievable at Wonderworks

WonderWorks at Pointe Orlando is an indoor amusement park with over 100 interactive science exhibits, plus laser tag, a three-story ropes course, and much much more.

Feel the power of an earthquake or try to land the Discovery Space Shuttle inside a lifelike simulator. Or even create your own rollercoaster. At WonderWorks, you can let your imagination run wild and believe anything is possible…

Launch into Orbit at the Kennedy Space Center

The Kennedy Space Center is the visitor center at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center and is a must-see for wannabe astronauts of all ages.

The exhibits are organized into five Mission Zones that allow you to wind your way through the history of the U.S. Space Program in chronological order. Filled with amazing exhibits and attractions, this truly is an out-of-this-world experience.

The Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour, also known as the Behind the Gates experience, allows visitors to access launch sites and learn about the Apollo Era at the Race to the Moon display.

For an additional cost, you can visit for a rocket launch. Or try the Astronaut Training Experience complete with gravity-defying space-walk.

The Kennedy Space Center is open from 9 am to 5 pm daily.

Great Escape Rooms

Some of the world’s most challenging escape rooms are located in Orlando, and these make for a great family outing when an escape from the weather is needed.

Getting out of the room before the time runs out is the aim of the game, but it’s easier said than done! These are a few of our favorites; be sure to check the websites for up-to-date pricing and availability.

Escapology

Escapology guarantees a private room no matter the size of your group and offers challenges from two to eight players. Solve the Murder on the Orient Express, or save a submarine in Under Pressure. This attraction is ever-evolving, and two new rooms, Star Trek: Quantum Filament and Lost City, are coming soon.

The Escape Game Orlando

TripAdvisor rates The Escape Game as their no. 1, and it’s easy to see why. In just 60 minutes, you can try to escape jail in Prison Break or search for treasure in Gold Rush.

America’s Escape Game

America’s Escape Game is the ultimate challenge for escape room experts and has an escape rate of just 16%! Try tackling The Caretaker, considered one of the hardest escape rooms in the U.S.

Breakout Escape Rooms

Just off International Drive, Breakout Escape Rooms can accommodate larger groups and features the Orlando Ghost Zone, Zombie Roadhouse, and Heart of a Pirate.

The Great Escape Room

The Great Escape Room is the only escape attraction in downtown Orlando. Save the world from the nuclear apocalypse in Poker Night at the President’s Bunker, or travel back 100 years to the 1920s in Escape Artist: The Final SĂ©ance.

Avoid Doing the Splits at Splitsville Bowling

Splitsville in Disney Springs is the perfect place to strengthen your strike or just to try and dodge the gutters. With 50,000 square feet of bowling, billiards, bars, and live entertainment on offer here, this could be the highlight of your visit to Orlando.

The food here will well exceed your expectations, too, with appetizers, sushi, pizza, and much more on offer.

Splitsville is open from 11 am Monday to Friday and 10.30 am Saturday and Sunday.

Discover the Delicious Chocolate Museum

No excuse is ever needed to spend a day indulging in chocolate, but the Chocolate Museum and Cafe really is a dream rainy-day destination.

Here, you can enter the tropical rainforest to learn about cacao before sampling some of the world’s best chocolate. And if that’s not enough to satisfy the chocoholics in your family, head to the cafĂ© for some more chocolatey goodies!

The cafe is open from 12 pm to 6 pm every day and the museum closes at 5 pm. Regular public tours are available and private tours can also be booked.

Be a Culture Vulture at the Orlando Museum of Art

The Orlando Museum of Art is a leading cultural institution and a must-see for visitors who want to learn about the rich history of Orlando.

This museum was founded in 1924 and features local, national, and international historical and modern pieces of art. There are 10-12 on-site exhibitions each year, so there is always something new to see here.

Awesome Orlando Science Center

Orlando Science Center has welcomed visitors to its exhibition halls, labs, and workshops for over 60 years. There are four floors to explore, and you can learn about everything from America’s food system to the prehistoric world of dinosaurs.

Orlando Science Center aims to inspire science learning for everyone by encouraging the next generation to dream big and provide the skills they need to do so. Make sure you check out The Red Tails Monument just outside the main entrance.

Rainy Day Bliss in Orlando
