Snow-drenched slopes and apres ski aren’t the only things to look forward to on a visit to Breckenridge — the largest town in Colorado’s Summit County has a flourishing culinary scene. Old buildings from the village’s Gold Rush heyday have been transformed into coffee shops and eateries with globally inspired menus.

This list of the best Breckenridge breakfast spots will help you find the perfect counter to grab a quick bite before riding the first lift of the day or a hearty and hot morning meal on a cold winter morning.

Columbine Cafe ($$)

Open every day for breakfast and lunch, the Columbine Cafe on Main Street offers indoor and outdoor seating. Known for its made-from-scratch corned beef hash, the restaurant also has a large menu of all the breakfast staples, from omelets and huevos rancheros to Belgian waffles and French toast. Lunch options include sandwiches, salads, and loaded potatoes.

Breakfast beverages at the Columbine Cafe go beyond lattes and mochas to include Bloody Marys, mimosas, and hot apple cider.

Daylight Donuts ($)

Located near the BreckConnect gondola, Daylight Donuts opens early in the morning, so skiers and snowboarders can grab a quick bite before hitting the slopes. Donuts are made fresh every day and include maple, toasted coconut, cream cheese pumpkin, and double chocolate flavored donuts, and other bakery favorites like fried cinnamon rolls and apple fritters are available as well.

The cafe has patio seating and a menu of hot breakfast standards — pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, breakfast burritos, and biscuits and gravy.

Mountain View Coffee Bar ($$)

As the name implies, Mountain View Coffee Bar has one of the best vistas at any Breckenridge breakfast spot, with a huge picture window framing the peaks. You can order for grab-and-go or claim one of the few tables or loungers to sip your cappuccino or latte. Healthy fruit, seed, and protein smoothies are on the drink menu, as well as locally roasted coffee.

The small eatery has outdoor seating and a pick-up window for grab-and-go ordering.

Mom’s has a full coffee bar and serves breakfast and lunch dishes, including Chlebicky, Czech-style, open-faced sandwiches smeared with spreads and toppings like ham and swiss, pesto and mozzarella, or egg, brie, and Havarti.

For a quick breakfast to-go, grab a kielbasa and bacon strudel or a bagel loaded with whipped cream cheese and king salmon. Inside, the cozy cafe has comfy seating areas, eclectic decor, and a big chalkboard wall.

A handful of “Moose benedict” options include a brie, bacon, and avocado-topped English muffin.
