Makinson Island

For those seeking a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of daily life, Makinson Island is a great area to stay in Kissimmee. This island in Lake Tohopekaliga is ideal for camping, nature, and fishing enthusiasts. It’s also a great spot to stay if you enjoy bird or wildlife-watching.

There are no restaurants or markets on the island, so if you’re camping for a few days, you’ll need to pack well! Alternatively, you can do your daily shopping on the mainland and take the boat back to the island if you’ll be camping for a few days.

Poinciana

Poinciana is a great area to stay just outside Kissimmee city limits. It’s close enough to reap all of the benefits of staying within the city, but its location outside of the city also offers opportunities to explore further afield as well! Poinciana is located approximately halfway between Kissimmee to the northeast and Haines City to the southwest.

There are plenty of reasons to choose Poinciana, Kissimmee as your vacation destination.
