Waterbirds is a private beachfront home on Dauphin Island, Alabama with 8 person hot tub that offers gorgeous sunrises and sunsets with special appearances of dolphins playing in the waves! This four-bedroom, two bathroom beach house is clean, comfortable, and has all of the amenities that you could need to enjoy your stay! Sit on the deck and listen to the waves crashing! Relax in our hammock under the house while the kids swing! You can even fish right off our deck! (We have fishing rods, but bring your own reel) Amenities include air conditioning, wireless internet, washer/dryer combo, stocked kitchen, gorgeous decks with grill, and an eight-person hot tub. You will be amazed at how close to the water this house is! At times depending on the tides, water may actually come under the deck! No worries though, the house has been checked by building inspector during this time and it is safe due to the huge pilings that go into the ground. It is an amazing experience if this happens during your stay!

Located three miles south of the mouth of Mobile Bay in the Gulf of Mexico, Dauphin Island is reached by a three-mile-long high-rise bridge. Once you arrive on the relaxing and family-friendly island, you will discover why many of our visitors keep returning year after year! Whether you are planning a cozy vacation for two or a family vacation for a large group, the Island offers something for everyone!
The island is known for marvelous views of nature of all kinds! Attractions on the east end of the island include historic Fort Gaines, the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, Audubon Bird Sanctuary and numerous boat launch sites. On the west end of the island, you’ll find our beautiful beaches of sugar white sand, public golf, and parks with ancient oaks. Jump on the ferry to Gulf Shores and Ft Morgan for an adventurous day trip! All together, they make Dauphin Island an incredible, relaxing vacation destination.
As our guest, we hope you soak up all of the many delights on the island while making this cozy beach-front house your tranquil home base! Waiting right outside your door are those sugar-white beaches and the Gulf of Mexico! Swim, fish, collect amazing specimens of shells and sea glass, or just grab a book and a chair and enjoy the sunshine! In addition, here are some other points of information that will help you plan your stay at our beautiful property:
- Pets are allowed! Pets are considered with prior approval, but there is a $150 fee. (You must bring their beds and blankets and not allow them on our furniture especially if they shed. They also must be up to date on shots and on a flea preventative.)
- Check-in is after 4:00 P.M. and guests must check-out by 10:00 A.M.
- This is a smoke-free property.
- The maximum number of guests is 15.
- We have exterior security cameras for the safety and security of our property and guests. These are motion recorded.
- You may experience wildlife native to the Gulf of Mexico including crabs, fish, dolphin, sharks, jelly fish etc. There may
also be rip currents and you should swim at your own risk.
- While there are several smaller stores on the Island to shop for groceries, their inventory is minimal. Before reaching the Island, you might want to consider stopping in Tillman’s Corner/Theodore for groceries. There you will find Winn-Dixie, Wal-Mart, and Rouses grocery stores. If you miss the Tillman’s Corner exit, you can always visit the Greer's Grocery Mart in Theodore (about 20 minutes from the island) before you get there. Finally, there is a Dollar General Store about 12 minutes from the island if you forget something!
- AND….if you just want to skip the grocery shopping, Dauphin Island Hospitality is a local company that will actually do your grocery shopping for you and put it all up for you in your rental before you arrive for your stay! Now, that’s service! Their website is www.dihospitality.com

Summary: The house and location were perfect for our families with younger kids. Just a quick trip down the stairs and you are at the beach! Everyone in our group of adults and young kids loved the hot tub. The large deck was perfect for being outside but out of the sand and dolphin/sea life watching. We saw dolphins, schools of fish, sting rays and lots of people fishing. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking. I always bring paper plates/bowls with the little kids but there were plenty of ones to use there. All the beds were comfortable and cozy. The TVs in each room really came in handy with lots of little ones in our group. I appreciated that both bathrooms were not attached to a room. It allowed full access to everyone to use. The super comfortable, cozy blankets in the living room made up for the firm couches. Monica was a quick text message away and seemed happy to answer any questions. We would absolutely stay here again.
