Summary: Stay with me on this. I can't review the VRBO property as I didn't end up staying there. I can only review the booking process, the communication and the check-in.The night before my flight to Mexico, I received a call from the guest house management saying, "We're sorry, we double booked. Your reservation- though confirmed and paid for- is cancelled. Shock. But we can offer you another apartment. Do you want it?" Of course, I said yes. I had no choice. When I arrived in Boca the next afternoon, someone was there to meet me and take me to the new apartment. All good. The apartment was large and clean, with a good kitchen, a large patio and a good view. But it was smaller and the location was not as good as the original. Because of that and the inconvenience, I asked for a discount. I was told, along with apologies, that I would get one. I haven't yet received it. So- some good, some bad, along with a bit of ugly. They did look after me after their error. My contact was very nice. If the VRBO apartment is as clean and nice as the one I stayed in, that's good, too. But double booking and cancelling the night before- pretty ugly.
