The apartment is about 85 m² in size with a separate entrance from the outside and for families up to 4 persons (plus infant) very suitable. The installation of an additional small cot is available without problems. There are two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen with dining area, a shower room with toilet and wash basin, a second toilet with wash basin and a large outdoor area with play and sunbathing lawn, as well as various seating and play facilities.
The area is ideal for long walks and bike rides (bike hire nearby) one on a very well-developed cycle tracks and hiking trails. There are a lot of lakes, forests, rivers, and other objectives such as castles, viewpoints and other attractions in the area. The Baltic Sea with its beautiful sandy beaches is just a short distance away. The Hansa Park in Sierksdorf, which Karl May Games in Bad Segeberg, the Eutin Opera Festival or the Bräutigamseiche in the nearby forest Dodauer all worth a visit. At a distance of about 400 meters, the country inn is on the threshing floor with inexpensive food and drink in a cozy atmosphere. The portions are offered on the size of hunger. Even child-friendly meals are available. Nice cafes, ice cream shops or other local places, and shops can be found in the nearby towns of Plön, Eutin and Bad Malente-Gremsmühlen. The above locations are all to well-known large and small lakes of Holstein Switzerland and provide excellent opportunities for walking and sightseeing. The many lakes and rivers in the surrounding area are well suited for swimming and rafting and boating with canoes or kayaks. The boats can be on an hourly or daily basis rent on site. Also tours with tour boats, such as the Great Plön Lake Tour or the Five Lakes cruise offered. The surrounding countryside with its beautiful rich nature offers an infinite wealth of recreational facilities and activities.

Summary: We had an excellent experience at the Alte Meieri this May/June. The apartment is set up ideally for kids, and the owners are incredibly accommodating and thoughtful. We arrived with our 1.5 year old, and they found a high chair for us as well as a special swing for little children that fit their swingset. The owner speaks English pretty well, and the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom are very modern and well-maintained. The weather was fantastic, and the air was clean and fresh. The back yard of this apartment has lawn chairs, a sandbox, a fire pit, a trampoline, and a swingset, so our son could have spent our whole vacation just playing in the back yard. The apartment also has many toys and games for adults and children. Everything is very clean and well-kept. The back yard boarders a farmer's field, so our son especially enjoyed seeing cows in the field and watching tractors. The apartment is located in a small village (over 700 years old), so it is quiet and peaceful at night, and it is only a short drive to many locations (Plon, Lubeck, Kiel, Lakes, etc). You can easily drive to Baltic beach locations or North Sea areas, and it was great to avoid the traffic and high prices of beach towns. There is a lot of interesting history to learn about as well as other outdoor things to do. During our trip, we even drove up to Denmark (about 2 hours away) just to see another country and Viking Village. Legoland is 3+ hours away, and there are also ferries that leave from nearby that travel to bigger cities like Copenhagen, Stockholm, etc. There is a cafe and restaurant within walking distance of the apartment, and while we didn't try the cafe, the restaurant had good food (large portions), and the wait staff were very friendly. They didn't speak English, but that didn't stop us from being able to order a nice dinner and beer. They are not open for lunch, but there are several nice grocery stores within a 10 minute drive. I can't think of a better apartment location or more friendly and accommodating hosts. The owners gave us great advice about places to see and when to see them, and they got along great with our son too. By the end of the trip, our son knew their names and wanted to hug them when we left. We can't believe that there aren't more Americans who travel to this area. It is beautiful, the people are friendly, and it is a fantastic place to bring children for a vacation. We definitely want to come back next year!
