This late 1700s canal side cottage is located within the grounds of Finsley Gate Wharf.
Finsley Gate Wharf was once at the heart of Lancashire's Industrial Revolution and was granted over 3 million pounds for a total regeneration, completed in September 2021.
The cottage, once the turnbridge keeper's home, is part of this regeneration and has been lovingly restored into a modern, quiet, yet centrally located guesthouse, a great place for reunions with easy access to local attractions.
Our late 1700s 2 storey cottage is a very grand version of a large, detached
2-up 2-down house.
We have divided the guesthouse into 4 rooms - 2 en-suite bedrooms and 2 large suites. This is a small unique guesthouse with just 4 room options. Like a hotel, all rooms have locks and you are also given a key to the cottage and the gate to the grounds of Finsley Gate Wharf.
DESCRIPTION: The Turner En-suite Double Room, Sleeps 2
The Turner En-suite Room is located on the ground floor, it has new wooden flooring, a built-in wardrobe and desk/dressing table with mirror, a hairdryer, lamp, and extension lead for charging phones and laptops. There are tea and coffee-making facilities with mugs, tumblers, short glasses, champagne glasses, wine glasses, and a fridge.
The new, minimal white bathroom leads off from the bedroom and has complementary TRESemmé shampoo, conditioner, Source shower gel and handwash. Please note, there are plenty of spare toilet rolls in the cupboard under the sink.
Bed linens and towels are provided.
House Rules:
- Check-in time is 1pm and check-out is 10am.
- Smoking is not allowed.
- Parties are not allowed
- There are free parking on premises parking facilities available at the property.
- Pets are allowed at the property.

As you can see from our collection of photographs, our 19th Century Warehouse and Saw Mill have already undergone renovation and are now open to the public.
Guests are welcome to use the facilities within Finsley Gate Wharf, reservations for the restaurant and café are recommended, especially on the weekend.
Check-out is at 10 am, guests can take advantage of the brunch menu at Finsley Gate Wharf which is served from 10 am, a good start to the day before heading back home.
