Island Life is a charming tropical island home with two bedrooms upstairs, plus an alcove with bunk beds, 2 full bathrooms, and a half bath. This unit comfortably sleeps 6. It features an open layout with a spacious, fully equipped kitchen. The main floor has a screened, furnished lanai for relaxing in the shade. The home has high-speed wireless internet.
Upstairs the master bedroom has a king-size bed, en suite bath, and a private sun/moon deck for lounging. It is ideal for enjoying the clear, starry skies at night or you might be lucky enough to see ospreys nesting in the tall trees nearby.
The second bedroom upstairs features 2 twin beds with an adjacent double-sink bathroom with shower/tub. A laundry area equipped with a full-size washer and dryer is provided for our guests. Air conditioning and ceiling fans will keep a breeze flowing even on the hottest days.
Surrounding area: Our home - Sunset Captiva #53 - is part of the private, exquisite Sunset Captiva Community. We are centrally located within a few minutes' walk to the pristine private beach on the Gulf side, heated swimming pool, tennis courts, gas grills, and picnic tables. A private boardwalk from the pool leads you past the Captiva Library and the Chapel-By-The-Sea to the expansive beach, where world-famous shelling can be found. Surf-fishing is popular and the slope of the beach allows safe and easy swimming in the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Take a moment to observe the dolphins as they surface close to shore.
To reach the Bay side of Captiva, it is a short walk from the house to the community's private marina, where you can fish or look for manatees on calm days, or just enjoy boats as they come and go. There are guest slips available at no cost for visitors' boats. but they do require advance reservations.
If you wish to explore the bay or mangroves - kayaks, pontoon, and fishing boats are available nearby for rent. Boat taxi service to nearby islands, chartered deep-sea fishing tours, parasailing, jet ski and bike rentals are also available. A short walk from our house is the historical Captiva district where you will find restaurants rich with island charm and fare, boutiques, galleries and a small but well-provisioned grocery store.
