Immersed in the peace and tranquillity of the beautiful Marche countryside Casa Pettorino is close to the provincial capital and university town of Macerata (12kms) and within easy striking distance of the Adriatic coast (18kms).
This elegant country house has wonderfully manicured gardens with mature herbs and flowers at every turn, hidden corners and seating nestled amongst the array of colour and scents that make this garden a real thing of beauty for the eyes and the senses. This gives the property a feeling of profound peace that means its guests feel totally welcome, relaxed and at home when they come to stay and unwind.
The Italian couple, who own the house and reside in a little casetta in the grounds along with their two dogs Lapo and Claretta, came across the property by chance but immediately fell in love with it. Soon after came the decision to purchase and undertake a painstaking restoration using local craftsmen to ensure the property could be given the chance to shine.
Various influences weave a rich tapestry of colour and texture throughout the different spaces inside the property, with the use of wood and cotto a common theme running throughout.
The antique furniture is all carefully sourced and selected, with considerable thought given to fabric choices which adorn pieces such as the inviting armchair and sofas around the stone fireplace, ranging in colours from ivory to azure and from brick red and clear green to a deep golden wheat yellow.
In front of the original brick frontage of the property, access opens onto the garden on various levels, withboxwood hedges, pomegranate trees and rose bushes intermingling to form a delicate geometry.
On the large terrace little tables and chairs provide ideal space for breakfast al aperto, where the eye can wander over fields of wheat or sunflowers and the numerous little medieval hamlets which surround the farmhouse.
The infinity pool is surrounded by a manicured lawn with comfortable and elegant sun loungers to lie back on and relax under the Marche sun, surrounded by the scent and colour of thousands and flowers.
A warm welcome, nature and tranquillity, with just the right does of romance are just some of the aspects which characterise Casa Pettorino, an ideal space to relax for lovers of simplicity and privacy.
Here you can still feel the rhythm of rural life. The vegetable plot provides guests with a range of herbs and vegetables which you are encouraged to pick and cook with, including but not limited to aubergines, tomatoes, courgettes, rosemary, basil, sage and thyme.
There are three double en suite bedrooms with chestnut beamed ceilings and original floorboards, each with air conditioning, TV, wifi, and hairdryer (also minibar, dressing gown, slippers for B&B guests).
Bedroom La Loggia has a private little wrought iron terrace and is the largest bedroom, with antique and modern touches including an old wooden linen chest at the foot of the bed, a hand painted wardrobe matching the French wallpaper and a bookshelf corridor separating bedroom and paved bathroom.
Bedrooms Foglie’s green shades take their inspiration from the surrounding countryside. The bed head has been hand embroidered and the wardrobe hand painted with leaves which give the room its name.
Bedroom Fiorita is a real little jewel, with a red wrought iron bed and French cotton curtains. An antique chest of drawers and mirror and an old wardrobe adorned with delicate frescoes enrich this room.
There is a lot of attention to detail in the bedrooms, from the carefully chosen upholstery and French fabrics to the wall prints and paintings.
