Positive: A superlative experience awaits those traveling to Meridian, MS if you're willing to traverse Downtown and possess 3-feet of high-end "city slicker" expectations. Ya know.... Hailing from Meridian.............decades before Jamal (the newfound American Idol winner) placed the town onto the map, it warms my heart to view this local town icon knock things out of the park and actually (almost) get it COMPLETELY right! Having attended Carver, KG and MHS --- viewing this Historic landmark....now a refined place of hotel lodging, I lept at the opportunity to pitch a tent and break bread for a spell; even if only for 2 nights. Pros: 1. Valet parking --- in Meridian? This is unheard of!, and while I was fortunate enough to locate street parking each day, this luxury amenity served as an added touch of sophistication that I was blindsided to view positioned onsite directly affront the facet of this hotel! 2. Customer service --- yes, yes, and YAZZZZ!!!! Residing in Los Angeles for some 2-decades, and from there to Bellevue, Washington - just outside of Seattle, I've traveled quite, quite frequently both, domestically as internationally within the years transpiring in between. The 3-Foot Hotel made it an absolute joy to come back home and proved that "Southern Hospitality" is DEFINITELY a thing! 3. My birthday, having transpired just days before - duly experienced the loss of my Grandmother (hence the purpose of this stay) that I'm considering to be a "double-birthday" as I commence in celebrating her rebirth. From start to finish, the staff of this hotel were splendid in respecting my need for solace.....to decompress; even going so far as to deliver an artisan *cheese and fruit tray to my room to better embrace the occasion and aid in my need to physically and mentally unwind.
Negative: There are a couple of things that prevented this experience from being a bona-fide 5-star accommodation, and I'd be remiss not to expound on them. 1. Despite how amazing the bathroom was within my suite, there was NO lotion for one to benefit from upon exiting the shower. -- I deem this a problem, and I'm sure others would as well. In addition, the "cutting age" contemporary design of the bathroom shower's open concept isn't the most practical as water splashes some 10 feet outside of the actual shower; often hitting the commode and living room carpet. This is a slip & fall just waiting to happen, guys! 2. Despite housekeeping (who was amazing, btw) visiting my suite (completely unbeknownst to me) while I was out - to replenish towels and empty the trash receptacles on the 1st night of my stay -- No one saw it necessary to replenish my empty bottled H2O bottles OR issue new coffee pods as well as packets of sugar and the like. This doesn't seem any bit efficient to me. 3. And lastly, despite how much I enjoyed my room (# 501) - the notes issued in advance of my trip specified that I wanted a "quiet corner room AWAY from noise of all kinds." This was to include ice machines, elevators, and housekeeping quarters --- YET, my suite was located (wait for it...) DIRECTLY next to the housekeeping quarters. Traveling some 3-4,000 miles into New Orleans just to brave the 200 mile - 3 hour drive up, this made it nearly impossible to sleep as I greeted daily by the sound of slamming doors as well as the conversations of staff as they prepared new rooms for those soon-to-be traveling in. Add this to the recurring lyrics obnoxious wafting sounds being emitted from a newfound night club (Cloud-something), resting mere blocks away, and the nighty thumping bass as a result of nearby drunkards and club attendees and well.... As I see it........
