Summary: We had a group of 7 friends stay for 3 nights in this quiet country home tucked away in the mountains. It was a good spot for our large with beautiful landscape and great stargazing nights. Andrew communicated clearly the instructions for arriving to the house from the airport and we kept in touch as needed. It was a bit cooler there than in the city center, so sadly we didn't get to use the pool but it was a nice relief in general from the hotter air in Funchal. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious, I especially loved the sink in the room, which made it easy to freshen up while others used the bathrooms. The kitchen was also very big and we did a family-style meal one night. I would recommend having some additional prepping utensils (knives, boards, platters) as it was a bit limited to cook for a large group but we made due with what we found and shared a delicious meal. Location wise, we were a few minutes from nearby stores for essentials and a 20-min hilly ride down to Funchal, which wasn't too bad. We did a few hikes in the area which were also very easy to get to from the house, so recommended as a good base for being away from the Funchal and exploring the east side of the island. Recommend this place if you have a large family/group and would like to explore Madeira for its beautiful landscapes and hikes.
