The Fairbrook Manor is a treasured estate, located eleven miles west of State College. Built in 1834 as a home for PA-ironmaster, John Lyon and his family, the property has a rich and diverse history over the last 190 years. In the early 1900s it served as the Fairbrook Country Club. Multiple US Presidents, including Dwight D. Eisenhower and Jimmy Carter have visited and enjoyed times on the property. Over the last 80 years, it has remained within the Harpster family and is owned and managed today by Wayne & Marjorie Harpster. A few groups rent the Manor in spring and summer months to fly fish on the adjacent, famous Spruce Creek.
