Positive: The house is just beautiful inside. So comfortable and with many amenities provided. I'm not sure but I believe we were the first guests at this listing. It feels like a family home that has been renovated to convert it for guests. Coffee, bottled water, some games were provided, toiletries, detergent, fever patches for a child, and many other little things. Very good security on the house, whether or not it's actually needed. The kitchen is small but full, and I really mean full, all manner of kitchen utilities provided if you want to do cooking. The washer/dryer actually does dry your clothes too, unlike many of these combo models. And the whole place is so spacious. We were two adults and a seven year old. There's a living room, a Japanese style room with tatami and very tasteful decorations, the kitchen, a foyer, the toilet room, the bathroom sink and laundry room, and the bath/shower room. Upstairs there were two bedrooms we used and I think the host can open up another bedroom if the party booking the place is larger. I could go on about all the great little things about this house. Just book it and you'll see for yourself. I only hope I can still afford it next time, as it was such a good deal this time. From the outside the house is nondescript, on the corner across from the Kumon, with one parking space. The host speaks reasonable English which is very helpful and we appreciated that. The location is fine. It's in the middle of Biei. There's a big grocery store nearby and the train station isn't far. If you drive there's a parking spot, and you can easily access everything in the area. It's more convenient than staying in Asahikawa. Please do respect the host and the house. Keep it beautiful.
Negative: There's nothing at all I didn't like. If Japanese isn't your language then do bring your smartphone and keep Google Translate handy with the camera option. It took us a little while to figure out the washing machine. I'd suggest to the host that she puts clear, simple instructions near the machine, so that people, even Japanese speakers, don't have to figure out the on board menus and options. Instructions in Japanese are fine because everyone else can use a translation app. We were confused by the difference between the single load detergent adding port and the automated detergent adding container, although we figured them out eventually. Google Translate is handy for the beautiful stove with infrared cooktop and grilling drawer too, although it's pretty easy to figure out. Biei can have a farmy smell in the air from all the farms nearby. If that bothers you then spray something you'd rather smell just under your nose and you'll be fine.
Summary: Phenomenal. If only AirBnBs were always this good.
