One home away from Ocean View Boulevard, it is steps from the water and the coastal recreational trail: turn right to visit the Aquarium and Cannery Row, or head in the other direction to commune with sea lions and sea otters on your way to Lover’s Point Beach.The living room has a huge TV over an electric fireplace, and the dining area seats six—both have views to die for. The well-equipped kitchen features a professional four-burner gas range and a built-in Viking microwave/convection oven—but there are restaurants galore close by. Stairs lead to the loft/office with a desk and a huge TV (if you can tear yourself away from the very blue horizons). The adjoining master bedroom has a King bed, a dressing room and closet, and a spectacular balcony with—you guessed it—more ocean views. The ensuite master bath has a walk-in shower and a clawfoot tub. Two guest rooms on the first floor with Queen beds share a full bath with a tub/shower, and there's a private backyard with a dining table and barbecue.“Wow!” may be the first word you utter when you enter, and “when can I return?” will likely be the last. Summary: This house is beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly located across from a shoreline walking and biking path. The kitchen was exceptionally well-stocked with utensils and other essentials like dish soap, paper towels, sponges, and dishwasher detergent, which we greatly appreciated. Bathrooms were also well-equipped with shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, and toilet paper. Beds were very comfortable, with high-quality linens. A nice bonus was the binoculars provided, allowing us to enjoy views of seals and sea otters from the windows. Communication with the management team was prompt and efficient, and the keyless entry system worked seamlessly. However, we encountered some challenges. The house was difficult to locate at night because there were no house numbers visible from the street. The driveway design requires driving over a curb, which caused our rental car to scrape every time. The plumbing issues were the most significant detractor from our stay. When we arrived, there was no hot water. We contacted the 24-hour maintenance line, and someone arrived within 40 minutes. While they were friendly and resolved the issue, it took over an hour for the water to heat, which was inconvenient after a long travel day. The first-floor bathroom shower was unusable because the diverter knob came completely out of the wall, and the tub drained very slowly. The manager offered to send someone to fix it, but we decided not to deal with another maintenance visit during our short stay. In the master bathroom, the clawfoot tub’s taps leaked, and the water was shut off at the main valves behind the tub. There was no note explaining this, so we initially thought the taps weren’t working. We eventually figured it out but had to manually turn the valves on and off each time someone wanted to bathe. The electronics lacked instructions. We couldn’t figure out the sound system, and the living room TV had three remotes with no explanation of their functions. The internet was briefly down one morning but resolved later in the day, likely a service provider issue. The management email before our arrival said there would be no basic condiments due to pandemic cleaning protocols, so we purchased many items unnecessarily. To our surprise, the house was stocked with salt, pepper, a spice rack, tea, coffee, filters, and half-and-half. Updating the email would save future guests from over-preparing. Despite these issues, the good far outweighed the bad, hence the 5 star review. The management was responsive, and the house’s comfort and location made it a wonderful stay. We’d definitely return on a future trip!
