Welcome to Cloudlandia! The home is perched on a cliff, with one of the most spectacular panoramic views of the valleys and mountains. As you enter the private 1.2 acre yard, you might just lose your breath with the magnitude of the clouds that welcome you, and as you near the edge of the brow, the valley and mountains unfold before your eyes. It is truly a wide range view year round, with no trees or foliage to block your sight. A large private deck area with tons of patio furniture and fire pit allow for a perfect viewing area. The interior decor is farmhouse chic, including French country furnishings, a little folk art, and some pieces by internationally renowned artist Howard Finster from Summerville GA.The main home is a darling cottage built in the 20's, completely renovated with granite counters, stainless appliances, a large stone wood-burning fireplace, hardwood floors throughout, washer and dryer, two queen bedrooms, a spacious updated bath, and large windows. The view of the mountains is visible from every room except the bathroom, and the natural light that reflects off the clouds creates an open and airy feel, as if you are floating in the sky. The separate guest cottage is a Master Suite, with a king bed, a private bathroom, a kitchenette with microwave and mini-fridge, and a gorgeous wood-burning stone fireplace. There is a fully equipped kitchen, dishwasher, Keurig coffee maker, a Weber Grill with various tools, great WIFI and pretty good cell phone reception, TVs in main house and guest cottage with cable and Netflix, lots of outdoor seating, and plenty of parking. We recommend bringing charcoal and good things to cook and grill. If you like cooking over a fire pit, be sure to bring hotdogs and smores to grill under the star-filled sky. There is a small grocery 2 miles away and wine/beer gas station less than a mile down the road. Nearby restaurants include Wildflower Cafe in Mentone (byob), the Willow Tree Grill in Summerville 8 miles East (they have a little bar), The Crushed Tomato, and The Lookout Restaurant 1/4 mile away (byob). The home is super close to Valley View Ranch Camp and Camp Juliette Low. Be sure to check out the Desoto Falls and Desoto State Park (with swimming and canoe launch), Cloudland Canyon State Park (hiking, biking, waterfalls), The Little River Canyon National Preserve, and the Cloudmont Ski and Golf Resort. Day trips include Rock City, Ruby Falls, Howard Finster's Paradise Gardens, and antique and artisan shops including local pottery, furniture, and soaps. Cloudland, GA is a two hour drive from Birmingham AL and Atlanta GA, and 55 minutes from Chattanooga TN. If you prefer to stay close to home, take a leisurely walk down the narrow tree-lined Brow Drive or bring your bike to pedal around the neighborhood. We are non-smoking and no pets are allowed. Young children need to be supervised at all times because of the cliff overhangs. When you visit Cloudlandia, you will find yourself in love with the mountains, the clouds, the stars, and the slower pace. This will be one of your favorites.
