The Space:
As you shed your shoes upon entering Maplewood Inn, you will instantly appreciate the warmth of the radiant heat in the beautiful wood floors. A full bathroom is located just off of the entry. You are immediately welcomed into a living area awash in warm neutrals that enhance the natural light. A cozy sofa sits opposite a wall-mounted television, beyond which, a well worn wood table with a chess or checker board invites you into the furthest corner of the room, one of the myriad special details in this home.
The convenient, well-appointed kitchen, just beyond, is sure to inspire memorable meals in the comfortable dining room just opposite, or on the enclosed front porch, with mature wisteria framing your view of the front garden and a quaint park across the street.
Beyond the dining room is a sitting room with a door leading out to the flagstone patio, and back garden beyond, complete with picturesque outbuildings, mature landscaping, a playground structure, and a Tiziana Spadea Hardy pool.
Back inside the sitting room, there are beautiful art pieces, and endless design elements to admire, as there are throughout this truly artistic home. This particular room features a wall-sized print of the Maplewood during its previous life as a fully operational inn.
Ahead is a charming library full of games and books, with a focus on contemporary and classic works for young readers. A beanbag chair reading nook beckons the young and young at heart to dive into selections ranging from Kipling to Dr. Seuss.
Another sitting room, beyond the library features abstract art, cheery potted geraniums, a cozy sectional sofa, and another television mounted above the mantle. A perfect place to lounge. In the hall, just outside this room is a wonderful collection of photos taken of various details from around the house and property. The basement famously housed a speakeasy in years past which can be seen in these photos, and you may be able to catch a peek through the basement windows, outside, just to the left of the entry door.
Either of two staircases, one off of the sitting rooms, and one off of the kitchen, lead you up to the four bedrooms and two additional bathrooms.
The staircase off of the kitchen brings you directly to a combined bedroom/laundry room. Sunny and bright, with a queen bed, this is a particularly spacious room, and there are closet doors to close off the washer and dryer when it’s not in use.
A full bath with shower is central to the three bedrooms in this section of the house, and features black and white tilework.
Across the hall is a combination office/library, with a door leading to a second, sprawling screened porch. Plenty of comfortable seating, and a hammock invite you to rest, recharge, and take in the view.
A second queen bedroom is just down the hall, snug and charming, with whimsical art and details, and also has a door leading out to the screened porch.
The third, double twin bedroom is filled with light, both natural and from well curated fixtures.
Through the pocket door at the end of the hall, you will find a private haven. This suite has ample closet space, and a vanity/dressing area, which leads to a bathroom with a generous walk in shower, jetted soaking tub, and double sinks. The spacious bedroom has comfy chairs next to the windows for a respite, and a queen bed.
Smoking is not allowed at this property and we will strictly enforce this rule for the well-being of the family who owns the property.

The village of Ashley Falls in the town of Sheffield sits on the southern border of Massachusetts next to Litchfield County, Connecticut. This is one of the area’s most picturesque towns, with mountain views, and several working farms. The historic Ashley House is nearby, as well as hiking at Bartholomew’s Cobble. Conveniently located on U.S. Route 7, you are very close to Sheffield, which has some amenities, and it’s a quick drive into downtown Great Barrington for entertainment, and any other needs.
Getting Around:
To enjoy the expansive beauty of the region, you'll need a car to get here and get around and the drive will be stunning! Since cell service can be inconsistent in the country, we recommend that you download the region's online maps to your phone before your trip.
We strongly advise using or renting a car that has all wheel or 4 wheel drive to access the property, especially in the colder months.

IMPORTANT BOOKING TERMS + CONDITIONS
• Smoking: this is a smoke-free property; smoking is strictly prohibited inside all buildings and within 50 yards of buildings and/or outdoor amenities. If we find evidence of smoking, we will charge a $500 fee.
• Parties + Gatherings: due to local community rules and guidelines set by the owner, parties and gatherings with guests in excess of the maximum guest count are prohibited at this property. We cannot accommodate weddings, or any events with outdoor music, catering, excessive alcohol, etc. Any party or gathering is grounds for immediate termination of your stay and removal from the property with no refund.
• Cleaning: we are pleased to arrange housekeeping during your stay, upon request, and at your cost. For longer stays, we require professional cleaning by our housekeepers every 2 weeks; guests can arrange and pay for this cleaning with the manager. Regardless of length of stay, we reserve the right to assess fines for excessive cleaning, trash removal, and property damage.
• Rental Agreement: to ensure a safe and comfortable stay, the owners of this property require that all guests sign a Rental Agreement that clearly sets forth the terms and conditions of your stay. We send the Rental Agreement with your booking confirmation and we require your signature within 24 hours; we reserve the right to cancel your booking with a 15% cancellation fee if we do not receive a signed agreement.
• Guest Count: please reserve the property for the actual number of guests in your party; no additional guests are permitted without host approval. Guests may not sublet the property.
• No refunds: while we make every effort to ensure that the property and all amenities are available to guests during their stay, we make no guarantees and we do not refund guests for unavailable amenities; utilities outages; weather, etc. We advise guests to exercise caution in inclement weather. In some cases, it may be difficult to reach the property without four-wheel drive; guests bear all responsibility for their safety and ability to access the property.
• Damage Waiver: to protect the property and its contents, we require guests to purchase a damage waiver with $3000 of coverage. Please report any damage immediately to us to avoid charges or responsibility for damage. Guests are responsible for any intentional damage, removal of items from the property, and any damage in excess of the $3000 coverage.
PETS:
• The Posto Property Team loves animals, and we welcome potty-trained dogs aged 12 months or older, provided that guests receive prior approval from us, sign the pet waiver and indemnification, and pay the pet fee ($75 per pet). Please note that our insurance prevents us from accepting certain breeds and prohibits any animals with behavioral issues
• Please note that our furry friends can get dirty when they visit the country. Please exercise care with the furniture and linens; we encourage pet parents to bring towels to be used on them (do not use the towels/linens provided by the homeowner).
•We strongly encourage guests to consider the risks for pets' health in the country, including pests (ticks), wild animals (bears, coyotes, foxes, etc.), and more. Guests assume all responsibility for the health of their furry family members. We are not responsible for any hazards or risks.

Nature & What to pack:
We urge guests to pay close attention when enjoying nature, weather can change quickly and wild animals can be surprising. Because temperatures in the mountains can fluctuate widely, even in the height of summer, we recommend packing sweaters and light, cold-weather gear just in case. Depending on the activities you plan, we recommend packing hiking, running, swimming, horseback riding, and/or running gear. We also recommend that guests consider spraying clothes with Permethrin when walking outside, to help avoid ticks. In winter we recommend guests pack several layers of warm clothing and ensure that their vehicles are ready for potential snowfall. For other clothing, most venues around are very casual.
