Lemon Tree Cottage is one of six original timber workers houses to have been restored in the Old Saw Mill Town at Brooman. Enjoy the tranquil Clyde River all year round, this secluded haven offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Imagine waking up to the gentle rustle of leaves and the melodic chirping of birds, as sunlight filters through the canopy above. Your mornings start with a warm cup of coffee on the porch, where you can watch the cattle graze peacefully in the distance and the river flow. Inside, the cottage exudes rustic charm with its wooden beams, cozy fireplace, and comfortable furnishings. We do however provide Wi-Fi if you wish to stay connected to the outside world. The old town site is set opposite a large bend in the Clyde river. Deep water extends from the bend nearly kilometre upstream. It is a great place for canoeing, fishing for Bass, Platypus watching or simply listening to the dozens of unique and beautiful endemic bird species of this area. There is a resident mob of Eastern Grey Kangaroos that typically come out at dusk. Red Neck Wallabies dart about the place. There are also Bandicoots, micro bats, blue tongues and Possums. The buildings date back to the late 1800’s to early 1900’s and once supported a thriving community of up to 200 people employed in the timber mill. Brooman had a post office, school, dance hall, mechanics building, galley, general store, phone exchange and cottages like the Lemon Tree for the saw mill workers and their families.
