Summary: When we first arrived in Mauritius, one of our bags did not make the flight and it took an extra 2 hours at the airport before we could leave. Tristan had arranged for an airport transfer and we were worried that our driver may have given up on us. We were so relieved he waited! The drive from the airport takes about an hour depending on traffic. We were met by Maureen, the housekeeper who had prepared a Mauritius dinner for us and after a long flight, long layover and lost luggage, having dinner waiting for us was wonderful. The location of the house was perfect for us - just a block or two from several very good restaurants and about a 5 minute walk to the beach. The pool in the backyard is very nice and was cleaned often. We were delighted to find a giant tortoise in the private garden just behind the pool. He was very friendly, liked having his head rubbed and loved eating the bananas we gave him. I absolutely fell in love with him! Tristan was available via Whatapp when we had a couple of questions and extremely pleasant and helpful. Though only my husband and I stayed here, the house could easily accommodate a larger family or small group. We will recommend Tristan’s place to any of our friend planning to visit Mauritius.
