Only 20 minutes from the many attractions of Newcastle and Gateshead - home to the Sage music venue, Baltic contemporary art gallery and excellent shopping. The renowned Beamish Open Air Museum that vividly recreates life in the North of England in the late 1800s and early 1900s is just 3 miles away and is an essential day out. The historic city of Durham, with its magnificent cathedral, which is regarded as the finest Norman building in Europe, is a mere 10 miles away. Durham is one the most beautiful cities in England, with spectacular architecture, tree-lined river bank walks and winding streets. Durham Cricket ground, which hosts many international matches is just 10 minutes away.
