Positive: A really stunning property that really felt like staying in a castle. Loved that there was a turret and the overall decor. All rooms had beautiful padded fabric wall coverings, which included the ceilings. Fabulous grounds to wander around, some ruins of additional dwellings, an outside dining table and outside sofa style seating, a table tennis folded table with paddles in the study/games room and ping pong balls in the table itself. There were also a few sheep in a penned off area. There is an attached chapel but unfortunately, no access to this part of the property. The property has a very well equipped kitchen which was a joy to cook in. There is also a nespresso type coffee maker with a few pods supplied. The TV in the sitting room is a smart TV but unfortunately the WiFi doesn’t penetrate the thick walls easily so unable to use to watch Netflix or the like. Lots of DVD’s supplied though.
Negative: Nothing we didn’t like really. But just for information, the spiral staircase may be difficult for people with mobility issues especially since there is no handrail. Similarly, may be a hazard for very young children. There are no curtains in the first floor bedrooms but we used the shutters, which worked just fine, although a little tricky to unlatch. The second floor bedrooms have roller blinds and these rooms were significantly warmer as up in the attic. However, there were only four of us so we didn’t need to use these bedrooms. And finally, there is no sound proofing between the first floor and the ground floor so one can clearly hear sound from downstairs. Between the bedrooms, the padded, fabric wall coverings act as excellent noise deadening.
