This stylish, contemporary cottage is architecturally designed to create a peaceful sense of privacy while feeling connected to the lush greenery outside – as if you were in a treehouse. Intimate and inviting, Kauri Tree Retreat feels serenely secluded but is perfectly located, being close to Raglan’s main attractions. Enjoy staying within walking distance of Ngarunui Beach and a few minutes from great coffee and world-renowned surf breaks. Though you’ll feel tucked away from civilisation, our modern cottage offers all the comforts of home. Kauri Tree Retreat features a fully-functional kitchen and an outdoor barbeque for those who enjoy self-catering, or treat yourself by visiting a nearby cafe or restaurant – including Rock-It Kitchen, just a one-minute drive down the road. The kitchen contains a fridge/ freezer, an oven and hob, rangehood, dishwasher, microwave, sink and a good supply of kitchen essentials. We provide a couple of breakfast cereals for guests. There is also a washing machine and laundry tub for guests use. You’ll have the convenience of free high-speed broadband, a Bluetooth speaker and Freeview TV. We have Google Chromecast so you can stream Netflix, YouTube, etc through the TV. There is a good supply of magazines and novels to relax with during your stay. The elegant, stylish interior includes stunning design features, from striking high-beams in the open-plan living area to quirky asymmetrical shelves made from local macrocarpa. The restful bedroom offers a luxurious super-king bed with quality linens. If needed, this can be split into two singles and there is a camp bed suitable for a child, with extra blankets provided. We also have a portacot for infants. Kauri Tree Retreat is private and self-contained. The owners live on-site in a separate building, and the property is partially fenced. We are just 3.5km from Raglan’s lively town centre. Local attractions include a mountain bike trail through a pine forest, just 2km away. Enjoy the outdoors by hiking up Mt Karioi, playing golf or going caving, fishing or horse riding. Choose from an abundance of yoga classes, book in with our experienced local massage therapist, or see a movie at the Old School Arts Centre. Explorers can hire a kayak, SUP board or bicycle, or head to the Raglan Museum and Information Centre for more ideas. The septic tank is designed for nature’s waste only. Please don’t put wet wipes, sanitary items or baby wipes into the septic system because these will clog the pump! There is a $100 fee to clear blockages.
