Ithaka Getaway Bungalow is located on the southern boundary of the quaint fishing village of Cape Jervis, right at the edge of the Fleurieu Peninsula.This is a unique setting where the backstairs passage meets the gulf waters and the view of Kangaroo Island is spectacular. A scenic 1.5 hours drive from Adelaide CBD, Ithaka Getaway Bungalow is a self-contained, serene oasis for discerning individuals/couples who wish to avoid holiday centres dominated by crowds, supermarkets and busy roads, preferring instead a scenic and largely natural bush & coastal location. The spacious Bungalow has a large open-plan living and dining room which faces panoramic & uninterrupted views of coast, ocean and Kangaroo Island. On the front decking, or just sitting in the lounge, you can watch ferries crossing the Backstairs Passage to and from Kangaroo Island. The abundant birdlife is astounding with over 7 parrot species, as well as honeyeaters, blue wrens and wedge-tail eagles. Watch kangaroos graze, and just relax as stunning sunsets enliven the Island the breathtaking panorama of sea & island. Enjoy all this from the delightful and serene retreat that is Ithaca Bungalow: complete with all modern conveniences, furnished in comfortable Retro, mid-twentieth century & contemporary style, & decorated with original artworks. Conveniences include an easy-to-use, modern galley kitchen with microwave, oven and fridge; a large (42inch) flat-screen HD (LCD) TV with an extensive 300 DVD plus in-house library that ranges from drama, SciFi, musicals, documentary, etc; FREE INTERNET with streaming services (including NETFLIX); Gas BBQ; washing machine; and safe off-street parking. The spacious master bedroom has a Queen-sized bed. The second bedroom has a sofa-bed (comfortable poster-paedic, double bed): the two bedrooms each sleep a couple (maximum 4 adults, OR two adults & 1-2 children).
PETS WELCOME (cats or small dogs), but please note there is a PET FEE of $30 per day. There is a spacious and secure cat/dog run attached to the house with a pet door.
Ithaka Getaway Bungalow is a serene country weekend retreat located in the quietest part of a very small township with fields in front leading down to the close-by coast. Local Attractions & Activities: stroll into the village which surrounds a bushland park which backs onto Ithaka Getaway Cottage & abounds in Kangaroos and wildflowers); trek in nearby bushland hills or along dramatic cliff coastal walks of the Hans Heysen Trail; explore the nearby fascinating Heritage Talisker Silver Mines (best preserved 19th Century Cornish mining ruins in Australia), and surrounding Conservation Park; delight in abundant native bird and wildlife (many kangaroos); swim in pristine waters of nearby Morgans Beach (5 minute drive or 15/20 minute walk), or Fishery Beach; Fantastic fishing along the coast and nearby ferry jetty; stroll down and watch the regular Island ferry landings/departures; read a book, watch a movie, surf the just luxuriate in the tranquil ambience. IDEAL FOR 'RE-CHARGING' RETREATS, ROMANTIC COUPLE GETAWAYS OR QUALITY FAMILY BREAKS!
Also an ideal stop-over if you're on the way to Kangaroo Island. The cottage is just 3-4 minutes drive from the Ferry wharf. Stay a couple of nights and watch the island from the best spot on the mainland!!

Within 2-3 minutes drive to the Kangaroo Island Ferry departure point, Ithaka Bungalow can be an excellent rest stop for a night or couple of days on your way to Kangaroo Island.
