Sleeps 17 in 9 beds. Abraham Kennedy, owner of the famous El Gallo on South Congress (closed in 2017), built this awe-inspiring villa in over a two year period from 1974-75. Originally built to house his family and two full-time maids, the property eventually housed a priest and the house infamously played host to the most fabulous parties of the 70s and 80s, many of which included the prominent local and state politicians of the era. The home is still the largest home in all of East Austin and the largest available to guests downtown. The property was tirelessly remodeled over a 20 month period in 2017-18 by Jantzen Matzdorff (of The Learning Channel’s “Flip That House”. Investor, Woodworker, Welder, and Designer) in collaboration with McCray & Co. (Body of work includes: Odd Duck, Ramen Tatsu-ya, Picnik, Nada Moo, Kemuri Tatsu-ya, amongst many others). Months of searching for the best mural artist in the world led to Curiot Tlalpazotl creating the moving 20 foot tall mural that greets all who enter the property. The mural combines Mayan mythology with modern spiritual outlooks. The central location boasts quick, easy access to downtown, Congress Avenue, and the river walk. ## Transit Scooters (Lime & Bird) as well as Lyft and Uber are the best ways to get around Austin, especially this close to everything. However, there are also a lot of public transportation options in this area (see CapMetro's website). Downtown Austin is just 2 miles down the road. ## Notes We have security cameras outside of our home at the entrances for added security and your peace of mind. We do not have any cameras inside of the home, respecting our guests' privacy. 1) Check-in is at 4 PM 2) No smoking allowed (of any kind) ($350 fine) 3) No loud noises after 10 PM per city ordinance 4) No events or parties. Additional day guests are $60/person/day 5) No pets allowed 6) The cleaning that you pay for is to clean the home prior to your stay. If you do not pick up after yourself sufficiently when you check out, you may be charged an additional cleaning fee - price depends on how long it takes to clean up after you.
