Summary: Thank you, my host, for my pleasant 4 night stay, and for riding the MRT with me to the airport on my departure. Awarded 5 stars for being exactly as pictured and precisely as expected, ideal for mature Europeans who value a spacious room with large window and wide views over the adjacent rooftop open-air gym with areas of greenery across to local high-rises and even city office buildings and for whom 1960s amenities and layout will serve adequately, it is the central Chinatown location of this apartment that is its main drawcard. Extremely useful inside the bedroom is a security safe large enough (though not bolted down) to hold a couple of 14" laptops and plenty more of a traveller's valuables. Slightly vague instructions meant finding the apartment wasn't so straightforward, particularly that the lift doesn't stop at that floor and you need to find the correct stairs, and that once found, the electronic main doorlock was not one I'd previously encountered and only really easy to operate after having uncovered how it operated. But once inside, the original 1960s configuration, moderately recently whitepainted and clean, includes a basic kitchen area also containing the separate shower room and separate toilet though somewhat utilitarian by modern standards. This is, however, an unmodernised original HBD flat save the obviously recently added air-conditioners, and the cold shower and minimal privacy come with the territory. In my view correctly priced at an amount that this website bans me from stating but which information is vital to this review in quantifying the value against the charge for 4 nights and without which unfortunately renders this review valueless as the price of this accommodation is a vital factor in its assessment, as a mature European unattracted by coffin-sized windowless capsules/pods, my host's spacious room with large window and nice breeze and in the middle of Chinatown made for a pleasant and very convenient stay.
