This sleepy community has in recent years grown with the addition of a port for commercial cruise liners. Hoonah has a grocery store, hardware store, as well as several restaurants. When one travels to Hoonah, it is usually connected to the area's incredible fishing (fresh and saltwater), hunting (deer & bear), wildlife/marine viewing, sea kayaking, mountain biking, or touring among the various coastal Alaskan communities.
