Housing :
Very nice house: 11 rooms + children’s dormitory, independent, well equipped, sunny, ideal also for children, internet, billiards, table football, ping-pong / table tennis, with a swimming pool and a garden of 800 m². Really suitable for family gatherings or friends! There are nine bicycles, two of which are electric, so that you can go for group rides and do, literally from bell tower to bell tower, the tour of the Saintonge’s churches.
The house is located in the city center of Pons, yet with a large garden and swimming pool.
During your stay, a person is at your disposal, to make your stay convenient and avoid any mishap. Over the four years of rental, our guests have not met any of them.
Everything is made available, voluntarily open, in a house that also serves as a place of life for the family. Here, you will feel, if not in your own house, at least at home.
Description:
Garden of 800 m², secure outdoor swimming pool 4.5m x 10m. Possibility to heat it for a specific rate depending on the season and the rental period.
Ground floor: Billiards room, small bedroom with double sofa bed, TV lounge, dining room; large living room including American kitchen, large games room 48 m², laundry room and shower room, all overlooking a summer patio of 80 m².
1st floor: Four beautiful bedrooms (double bed, and one with an extra single bed), one of which has a shower room. Very nice bathroom. Two other bedrooms, one with a single bed and the other with three single beds. 2 WC.
2nd floor: a suite, in the form of two communicating bedrooms; another small bedroom; a large dormitory with 5 beds; bathroom and WC.

A person is present near the premises to manage, in all discretion, the relationship with you and facilitate your stay.

To get there, the A10 motorway is very convenient, as the house is 5 kms from exit n°36, "Pons". Pons has a train station, often served by bus. From Paris, TGV to Angoulême, then by bus. Otherwise, see Saintes station (20 mn by car) or Cognac station (idem).
The house can easily accommodate 25 people. The more the house is occupied, the more it costs. Hence the supplement of €25 per person and per night above 14 persons.
For groups, venues, seminars, a lumpsum price will be agreed by direct contact. This price will include all options, except the heating of the swimming pool, but, significantly, the possibility to arrive early on Fridays and to leave on Sundays at your convenience.
You may ask, optionally, for some heating of the pool. Tariff to be discussed according to the season and duration of your stay, in the order of €90.
A set of sheets + towel is provided by occupied bed, included in the price.
The neighborhood - Presentation
Pons is a charming medieval town of 4,100 inhabitants, too little known compared to the nearby towns of Saintes and Cognac. It is crossed by the pilgrims' route to Santiago de Compostela and by the pretty river Seugne. It is full of historical sites, including a famous dungeon and a pretty park.
You will find in Pons all the services: a cinema at 50m, “Le Vauban”, with a quality program, restaurants, a beautiful municipal swimming pool in case the one of the house is not enough, shops.... For the kids, an excellent leisure centre just steps away. The surroundings of the Charentes Maritime (the Saintonge, one of the cradles of Romanesque art) are a must to visit: the house is 20 mn from Saintes, Cognac and Jonzac; 25 mn from the Gironde, with the charming beach of Meschers and the wonderful village of Talmont-sur-Gironde; 35 mn from Royan and 1h from Bordeaux. The banks of the Seugne, with its boat trips; the cafés of the Place du Donjon; some pleasant restaurants, including one, the renowned Hotel de Bourgogne, with a very reasonable price.
Our favorites :
1- Pons, which deserves a bit of strolling around, with an ascent to the dungeon with the children, coffee at the bar “Le Donjon”, then descent by the staircase to the back of the park, down to the Seugne and a walk in the wood, until, for the children, a guinguette at the end with fastfood and entertainment, then return along the beautiful church of Saint-Vivien. A variant: go to the Hôtel des Pélerins, a nice visit.
2- The beach of Meschers, a great bathing on the Gironde, with mussels / chips (for example at the restaurant Oasis, avenue de Vernes, reference 45.564788, -0.971137 on Google Maps), followed or preceded, imperatively, by a visit to Talmont-sur-Gironde and the very moving Sainte-Radegonde, the church overlooking the sea, all 40 km to the west of Pons,
3- The city of Saintes, an absolute must, including the Abbaye aux Dames and the district of the Saint-Pierre cathedral (20 km). A very nice and sophisticated cognac cellar "La Cale" (1 rue de Courbiac),
4- A quality restaurant, famous and in the end inexpensive, close to the house: the “Hôtel de Bordeaux”, run by an excellent hostess,
5- The cinema for the evening, “Le Vauban”, some 100m away from the house, with a often interesting program,
6- The market in the Hall on Saturday and Wednesday mornings, to buy oysters and cheese
7- With 9 bikes, two of which are electric, you can take beautiful group rides around Pons, for example south towards Fleach, and a short tour of the local Romanesque churches, because you are in the heart of Saintonge, the cradle of Romanesque art. At the beginning of the ballad, pass by the Château des Énigmes (1.5 km from the town centre), especially to take a look at the building, renaissance style. Children will have a good time there.
Transportation
Pons is 5km from the A10 motorway, exit 36. It has a railway station, served by train or bus, coming either from Bordeaux or Paris, from Saintes or Angoulême. There is ample parking space in front of the house.
Rules of procedure
The house is a living space usually occupied by a family. You will find all the amenities. All freedom is left to you in the use of the premises. It is expected that you occupy them as if you were at home.
Smoking and pets are allowed, the place is ideal for a party, however with restrictions on noise. The only other restrictions are for the swimming pool, for security reasons: they will be indicated by the receptionist.
