Highway 180 is a scenic stretch of road between Alabama’s beautiful Gulf Coast to the south, and Bon Secour Bay to the north. The highway connects downtown Gulf Shores to the tip of the peninsula at "the Fort" and Fort Morgan Ferry, which goes to Dauphin Island. The drive down Old Fort Morgan Highway is visually stunning. The road rambles through undisturbed Southern woods and past the wide waters of the Little Lagoon before opening to a dramatic northern vista where Mobile Bay meets Bon Secour Bay. Dunestruck is located in Surfside Shores, a lovely coastal community on the Fort Morgan peninsula, approximately 14 miles west of Gulf Shores on State Highway 180 (Fort Morgan Road). This charming four-bedroom, two-bath home is perfect for friends and family looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Dunestruck is a short five-minute walk to the neighborhood's private beach access. This beach community is near both top-rated golf courses on the island, The Peninsula and Kiva Dunes.
This lovely four-bedroom, two-bath home offers Gulf views that do not disappoint! One of our favorite amenities at Dunestruck is the large covered porch facing the Gulf of Mexico. The porch’s comfortable rocking chairs are the perfect place to watch the neighborhood bunnies in the morning and enjoy cool breezes in the evening. The spacious sun deck on the west side of the house features an outdoor dining area and is wonderful for enjoying a shaded al fresco dinner and nighttime stargazing.
Dunestruck was purchased in July 2022 by existing clients who wanted to invest in another home in Surfside Shores. During the late summer months, we completed various repairs and updates, including installing a brand-new metal roof, repainting the exterior with a fresh pop of color, making a few plumbing and electrical updates, and completely furnishing the house from top to bottom. It was a super fun and sweet project to take on with our existing clients (and their awesome kiddos). We all made some amazing memories, from antique-hunting all over south Baldwin county to playing evening card games on the porch, and poured lots of love into creating Dunestruck. We hope guests have as much fun here as we have!
Dunestruck can accommodate up to eight guests comfortably, utilizing two king beds, one queen bed, and a twin daybed with a trundle in the loft. We do not offer sleeper sofas. The interior living space is 1,250 square feet.
Like most beach homes, our house is on pilings. The main level of the home is elevated, so guests do need to climb stairs to access the main floor of Dunestruck. The only interior stairs are for accessing the lofted bedroom.
The front door is up the stairs located on the eastern side of the home. At the top of the staircase, there is a lockbox mounted at eye level next to the front door. Guests will be given the access code to the lockbox prior to their arrival.
Upon entry into the home, guests are greeted by a bright and airy living, dining, and kitchen area. The 65-inch flat-screen smart television is mounted next to the electric fireplace. Guests will be provided a login for YouTube TV. We do not offer access to any other streaming services or cable. Guests are to sign in to their own app accounts and are responsible for signing out upon departure. This is the perfect space to enjoy a board game or late-night movie.
The kitchen is fully stocked with more than the basics; pots and pans, a drip coffee pot, a K-cup coffee maker, a tea kettle, and ample utensils. If we have not stocked an item that is needed, please let us know. Please note that the home will occasionally have coffee, sugar, creamers, salt, pepper, and olive oil. However, we do not stock these items. Guests can snag these items from Sassy Bass Market, which is within two miles of the house.
The master bedroom can be found on the northeast side of the home. It has a king bed, two nightstands with reading lamps, a ceiling fan, privacy door, a mounted 40-inch flat-screen smart television, a closet with storage space for luggage, a private entrance from the eastern-facing deck, and a three-piece bath. The master bathroom has a shower/tub combo, fresh linens, and bar soap. Please do not take our linens to the beach.
The king guest bedroom can be found on the northwest side of the home. This bedroom has a king bed, two nightstands with reading lamps, a ceiling fan, and a chest of drawers.
The queen guest bedroom can be found on the west side of the hallway. This bedroom has a queen bed, one nightstand with a reading lamp, a ceiling fan, a chest of drawers, and a closet for luggage storage.
The guest bath is located in the hallway between the king and queen guest bedrooms. This three-piece full bath offers a tub/shower combo with fresh linens and bar soap.
There is a full-size washer and dryer for guests to use in the hallway closet. Although we offer a starter pack of laundry detergent, guests should always supply their own detergent for extended stays.
When relaxing at the house, guests can sit on one of two main-level decks that overlook the Gulf of Mexico and our local foliage. The southern-facing covered porch features gorgeous views of the water and plenty of comfortable seating in rocking chairs and Adirondacks. The eastern-facing sun deck is perfect for catching morning rays, enjoying a shaded al fresco dinner, or even setting up a baby pool. Downstairs, we have a large covered porch with ample storage for coolers and beach gear.
Dunestruck has a Weber charcoal grill. Guests are responsible for bringing all of their BBQ supplies. Please pull the grill out from under the house before grilling.
Our beaches are quiet and not publicly accessible. Although downtown Gulf Shores is 20 minutes away, there are plenty of places to eat and have fun on our side of the island. We have a detailed list of bars, restaurants, and grocery stores in our digital guidebook.
