Summary: Check in was easy and Luis was accommodating for our pets. The apartment had potential to be cute and adequate, if it were clean and did not have a terrible odor of something rotting. We entered and smelled it immediately. We saw a bag left behind on the counter with opened cream cheese and hoped it was that. We messaged the host and were told to throw the cream cheese away and “use the air freshener spray in the bathroom.” We did that but the smell remained and brought flies. We found a bowl with smelly water catching a leaky sink and dumped and cleaned it, but no luck. The floors were also filthy. Our children’s feet were brown within minutes of arrival. The sinks and tub were dirty with hair in the drains. The comforter on the regular bed had crusty food stains. Later that night we realized there was no blanket for the pullout bed and messaged to asked where we might find one. No one responded but 10 min later there was a startling knock at the door and the owners daughter was there with a blanket that was very clearly dirty. We ended up having to buy cleaning supplies, candles, odor spray, and a blanket for the kids. The owner never followed up on the odor complaint or the blanket to ensure either was resolved. Admittedly the place was inexpensive at first, but ended up costing us plenty more. And we paid a higher cleaning fee for our pets-hopefully they use it to clean for the next people.
