Cottage has supplied Binoculars to view nature up close. The cottage is set back approximately 20' from water's edge with an amazing view of Damariscotta Lake. This 13 mile long lake is one of the quietest and cleanest in Maine boasting the best Bass fishing of any lake in the area! Also, the lake's State Park has a swimming area with sandy beach and picnic area. Golden Meadow Cottage has a private dock with three boats available to renters at no extra charge - 14' Old Town tandem kayak, 18' Grumman canoe and a 5 Seat Paddle boat. Take in the outdoors by lounging dockside under an umbrella canopy to dream away your cares, read a good book , or simply watch interesting wildlife happenings right before your eyes, including the Eagle's nest. The outside deck and patio with Weber propane grill, Wrought Iron seating area and additional Patio furniture + Picnic table allows you to enjoy a mouth watering clam bake dinner or one of your favorite barb-be-ques. The patio also offers a fire pit to ad to the ambiance of your special occasion. The nicely maintained lawn area around the cottage provides the opportunity for everyone to join in on a fun-filled game of good old fashioned Croquet. Whether having your morning coffee in the sun room accompanied by the song birds, or sipping a glass of wine on the patio in the evening, serenaded by the Loons, you will be mesmerized by the joyful sunrises and the spectacular sunsets on the lake! This cottage, within its' beautiful surroundings, is uniquely located. It is less than 2 miles from the "Twin Villages" of Newcastle and Damariscotta with its' quaint Harbor, Riverside dining and River Cruises. The Villages have many shops, boutiques, restaurants, a movie theater and live theater, and the opportunity to seek out your favorite antique treasures. There is also a great Public Library in town and an awesome Used Book Store not to be missed ! Nearby in Damariscotta Mills is the well known "Fish LadderSkidom" where Alewives annually swim upstream to spawn. You can walk along the ladder and witness this amazing feat! It is also ideally located for short drives along the Coast to Pemaquid Lighthouse, Christmas Cove, the Rachel Carson Preserve, Boothbay Botanical Gardens, Rockland Art Museum featuring Andrew Wyeth, Camden Hills hiking at Mt.Megunticook and so much more.
