Charming and bright quintessential British cottage. The cottage is set in a convenient location within close walking distance of the High Street with its array of facilities. In the village itself, it's worth noting that the high street is largely devoted to independent businesses - although there is a Co-Op branch for your grocery needs. Up to 2 well-behaved pets are welcome, but we ask for £30 per pet/per week. After your booking is confirmed, the pet fees will be processed separately.
The Space:
The front of the cottage is a raised courtyard garden and to the side there is an off-street parking space. The pretty garden comprises paved terraces which are ideal for al fresco entertaining and a lawn with an abundance of flowers. By the garden, there is a bright conservatory with central heating and an electric heater to keep you warm on those cold days. The property benefits from Vodafone Superfast Pro 2 broadband. In the large living room there is a double sofa bed and a wide-screen smart TV. It is internet enabled and has Netflix, Amazon Prime, iPlayer, ITV Hub, etc. Standard aerial channels are also available. Here you can also find a sitting/dining room. There is also a well-equipped kitchen that includes a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge, and double oven. The bathroom with a bathtub and shower is located on the ground floor. An inner hallway has stairs rising to the first floor where the two bedrooms are located. Please be aware that the staircase is a bit steep and has about 11 steps. On the 2nd floor, there is a generous-sized double room with a king-size bed and a cozy single room. Fresh towels and crisp cotton bed linen are included.
Guest Access:
There is a driveway on the side of the cottage where you can park a smaller vehicle and on street parking is free.
The Neighborhood:
Linton village has a good range of local amenities including public houses, hairdressers, a post office, a pharmacy, and a whole host of other small businesses. The Dog & Duck is a beloved local pub, which serves fresh local food and pet friendly, complimented by a wide range of real ales and craft beers. The riverside garden also makes it the place to be during the summer months. Elsewhere in the village, the Crown Inn similarly offers highly recommended food.
The Linton Kitchen is the place to go for coffee, tea, and scrumptious cakes.
If you prefer cooking for yourself, fresh food can be picked up at the farmers' market on the first Saturday of every month over at Linton Village College.
Linton has a couple of charming tourist attractions that are well worth mentioning. Linton Zoo is worth a visit and so is Chilford Hall, one of England's oldest established vineyards that still produces award-winning wines to this day.
The cottage is situated just under 10 miles from Cambridge with its Botanic Garden, museums, and all the amenities the University City has to offer. It's close to Duxford Air Museum (7 miles), Babraham Institute, and Chesterford Science Park and the pretty market towns of Haverhill and Saffron Walden aren't far away either.
Getting Around:
The drive from Linton to Cambridge takes less than half an hour along the A1307, while a journey on the number 13 bus from the village to the city takes 33 minutes on average.
If you do fancy cycling to work, the A1307 can also accommodate your needs - it takes 54 minutes to cycle the 10.5-mile route from Linton to the city.
Audley End mainline station offering a service to London's Liverpool Street and Cambridge is around 11 miles away and the M11 motorway access point is within approximately 8 miles at Duxford (junction 10) village
