Sitting in Constable Country, Long Melford was made famous by two artists John Constable and Thomas Gainsborough, and it also has a rich history of wool making in the Middle Ages and makes up a part of the Wool Towns. Lavenham, Sudbury, Kersey and Clare are all a part of this collection of villages and are within 10 miles of the property. They boast some of the prettiest medieval cottages, wonderful walks and excellent pubs and restaurants.
