Positive: Ca l’Aloy is a charming and comfortable, well-equipped self-catering apartment on two floors in the quiet and ancient little village of Arfa. The greeting we had from the host’s teacher daughter (who speaks fluent English) couldn’t have been friendlier and she was very helpful pointing out lovely places to visit. We enjoyed walks along the river by the house and breakfasts on the balcony looking at the high Pyrenees and an attractive hilltop village, which can also be seen from the kitchen/diner below. The village is at one end of the Cerdanya valley, not far from the town of La Seu d’Urgell. Fabulous views, walks and places to visit in the mountains all around.
Negative: Arfa is an ancient village on a steep hillside with a maze of narrow little roads and paths, which we had to negotiate with our luggage to reach the apartment. We were fine but it’s not accommodation for those with mobilty issues. On one occasion (ee were there for 4 nights) we got a whiff of the sewage works further along by the river.
