Summary: We enjoyed our weekend at The Sandpiper. It is in close walking distance to the beach and is a nice area. The beach was not crowded like the public beach access points close to the Pleasure Pier. The home had adequate seating, TV in all the rooms, nice furnishings, and was adequately supplied with kitchenware, paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap & liquid, and travel sized toiletries. It had everything we needed, except for a mop & toilet plunger. But those items were brought to the home quickly when we needed them shortly after our arrival. The maid service, access to the home, and management company can be improved. The home was clean when we arrived, except for the floors. They were not swept or vacuumed, as evidenced by glitter, sequence, etc. throughout. I actually vacuumed myself a bit, and the suction on the vacuum is not the best either. Also, we were only provided with one key to the main entry, and one key to the upstairs doors. The main door downstairs could only be opened with the key, since the key pad did not work with the code we were given. Also, only one of the three lock boxes on the exterior doors actually worked with the code. The keys to the upstairs doors only unlock the doors. You cannot lock the doors with a key from the outside. So, it was not ideal having only one key that can lock doors to share with 5 people that may be at the beach, driving around, or in the home at different times. I reported this to the management company, and they said they'd see about bringing another key over, but that didn't happen. The double doors are also a bit tricky to figure out at first. One of the single doors upstairs would not lock from the inside after it was opened. I called the management company twice to get help with this, and no one came. So we spent the night there with an unlocked door. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay. Thanks to the owners for letting us stay at their beautiful home!
