Famed Midcentury architect, Donald Wexler designed this one-of-a-kind home in 1959 for the Mattel Family, paying special tribute to the American toy company’s iconic “Barbie” doll.
Built by Roy Fey in El Rancho Vista Estates, the Barbie House boasted Wexler’s famous "Capri" floorplan with a rare 4th bedroom, and its full exterior was painted a special “Barbie” pink. Today the classic “Barbie” color still accents the home’s signature concrete shadow block walls and interior spaces, and the original floorplan remains intact, just as it was sold in 1959.
Nestled in this idyllic community of Wexler's famous roof-lines, and set against a stunning mountain skyline, Barbie’s dazzling midcentury masterpiece is the quintessential Palm Springs retreat. Indoors, the Home’s playful history is preserved by its colorful and eccentric design; each room coming equipped with all the modern conveniences that make a home just as comfortable as it is fabulous
In the backyard, magnificent alpine views wrap the property and peak high above a crystal blue pool and custom spa, painting the perfect Palm Springs setting to soak up the sun, and more importantly, a few cocktails. In the rare instances where guests are not poolside, they’ll find a fully-stocked kitchen indoors, complete with stainless steel appliances and fine cookware; a wildly glamorous entertainment area with loads of midcentury charm; plush beds and flat screen HDTVs in all 4 bedrooms (1 double, 1 queen, 2 kings).
