Private car rental is the safest option for independent travel. And the best option is to have your own vehicle. There is limited or No taxi services that operate around the area, so please do not depend on any sevice, even such as Uber.
It is safe to walk down to the beach and around the neighbourhood etc but remain vigilant. It is even safe to walk down to the village for dinner if you wanted to. The raods are not well lit, so please ensure you have your own additional lighting.
