Positive: Location good and convenient. If you're a business trying to find a way to keep costs down for group business travel, the accommodation, although costly, is cheaper than individual hotel rooms, and will provide amusing stories for everyone to share with their colleagues on return. Cleaning and overall maintenance feels like it gets done - at the sort of level you'd be willing to accept if staying with a really good friend of limited means. ( black mould in only some of the grouting and joins of both bathrooms' tiling, and after we cleaned the kitchen tap filter screen the water flowed at a reasonable pace). There is the opportunity to watch wildlife in the yard at the back of the kitchen in the night and early mornings, keep the kitchen doors shut and they'll remain on their side of the glass. If you're there a week, you'll have the chance to choose your own breakfast cereals and toilet paper, (good supermarket round corner) which admittedly, isn't listed as being included.
Negative: The property is listed for up to six. We booked for five people ( work colleagues, not couples), believing the description that there were two double beds, one single and two sofabeds. There were not two sofabeds. Just sofas. We raised this on arrival and got told a campbed had been put up in the "den" (windowless storage cupboard with part-open wiring panels in it, literally the size of the campbed) and that the sofas could be slept on as they were. (The description has now been updated to one sofabed rather than two - there are still zero) We had four people decide to stay, one of whom went to stay with a relative for the last two nights so the person who was on the sofa could have a bed. It feels like the owner bought the place as is (white carpets in a rental?) to short-term let and keeps it operating at a level where nobody's going to have major complaints. The stairs and bathrooms are laid out on the other side from the listing photographs and the sofas and some of the rugs are different. They look to be from a sales brochure for a twin of the apartment, perhaps next door or the same block. The apartment is not at 853 Richard Street, it's about 100 yards away at 925.
Summary: Acceptable if keeping business travel costs down. The sofabeds don't exist.
