Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: Location was handy for our visit to Petersen Automative Museum. Many destinations nearby - Lots to see and do not far. An easy short Lyft from hotel to a fav museum and then lunch in K-town was great. La Brea Tarpits Museum and field was also very close, plus the LA MOMA too. Dinner or lunch - dining out was very good on Wilshire within 1 block East or West. Many choices. Street noise - much less than we expected. Slept very well. Linen/Bedding/Towels - clean.
Negative: Street / curbside parking - Ugh. No valet. No parking lot. Reception provides a note for your dash so no ticketing, but way inconvenient arriving and if you plan to move and use your automobile. Family picked us up for our local travels. Else Lyft. Doesn't sound like much of an inconvenience till you try to find a curbspot in a neighborhood full of cars, then try to walk the uneven sidewalks with any bag to check-in or from check-out. More stressful and more physical than it should have been. Breakfast and (instant?) coffee - Forgettable. I left both mornings to have far better coffee and breakfast at Cafe Fresco across Wilshire. Hospitality - Seems not much thought to us. Room could have been cooled ahead of our arrival (reservation? yes). Weather was warm outside and uncomfortable until we turned-on the AC in room. Disappointed. Not hard. We were fine after it was turned-on by us and ran. Untidy? Room, bedding and bath seemed clean and fine. The floor under the beds and frame under mattress and box spring were not clean. We lost an earring in room and searched for it. Never found other ear ring, but did get an untidy vibe after seeing what we saw. Ceiling noise? Both evenings we were distracted by children? or someone running across the ceiling of our ground floor room. Unsure if that was another guest or a family on premises. Unexpected. Feels a bit like a large residence converted to a hotel. Ceiling not concrete and steel. Mattress - Not great.
Summary: Good base for stuff nearby. AC in room works good. Only STREET parking curbside. Dine out.
