This detached lakeside house is set in beautiful natural surroundings on 5 acres of shoreline at Lough Ree on the River Shannon. Every room in the house has wonderful views. Lough Ree House is 4* standard. The garden is large and extends right down to the lake and has a picnic bench to sit at and while away the afternoons or evenings. This house has its own marina and offers a unique choice of hiring a lake boat or a family cruiser, giving complete access to the lake. Concessionary discounted rates are available for the hire of boats from the owner. The main attraction of this house is its unique location with facilities for boating, cruising, fishing, or for those seeking a picturesque setting on the waterway with complete tranquility. This property is not suitable for children due to its waterside location and proximity to the Marina. We cannot accept online reservations that include children for the above reasons. 19 foot lake boats with 6 horsepower engines can be hired onsite at a preferential rate of Euro 245.00 per week (Euro 35.00 per day. This is normally Euro 75.00 per day). This needs to be booked in advance and paid on arrival at Lough Ree House. The house sleeps 6 persons maximum in the three bedrooms as listed below. We cannot allow additional guests, visitors, family gatherings or parties due to Covid-19 and Insurance reasons. Room 1 - double bed Room 2 - two single beds Room 3 - one double and one single bed The sitting room has a cosy open fire and a spacious open plan dining room/ kitchen - both offering splendid views of the lake. The main bathroom has a bath, wc and a separate shower cubicle. There is an additional shower room and wc off the utility room. This property offers free WIFI along with Free to Air TV channels. PLEASE NOTE Oil and electricity are meter read and must be paid for on departure according to usage. LOCAL AMENITIES & ATTRACTIONS The local village of Glasson (8km) is known as "The Village of Roses". It offers a supermarket/ delicatessen/ off licence/ Post Office/ Service Station along with two attractive pubs - "Grogan's" and "The Villager" - both serving excellent food. The award winning "Glasson Village Restaurant" is also in the Village. The renowned "Wineport Restaurant" is also close by right on the lakeshore. There is also a hairdresser, pharmacy, craft shop and Tourist Information Centre in the Old School House. Across the Lake is the Hodson Bay Hotel and the "Bay Water Sports Centre". Athlone town is 18kms away and offers a host of facilities and amenities such as two large shopping centres and of course the beautiful Athlone Castle. GOLF There is a choice of two 18 hole golf courses nearby - Glasson Golf & Country Club and the Athlone Golf Club at Hodson Bay. Each of the courses is located on the lakeshore and is accessible by road or by boat! THE LAKE Lough Ree is the second largest lake on the River Shannon which is noted for its pike, course and trout fishing. The lake contains many islands of varying historical significance and many are rich in wildlife
