Your relaxing stay at Wahine Getaway begins as soon as you board your Bay Islands Transit Ferry at Redland Bay Ferry Terminal. Sit back and relax as you enjoy the view of the islands and North Stradbroke, you might even be lucky enough to see a dolphin, dugong or turtle. Once you disembark at Russell Island and travel to 99 Wahine Drive, you will automatically slow down as you leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind. No traffic lights, no traffic jams. Heaven.
Now is the time to grab any last-minute groceries at the IGA or stock up on drinks at the local liquor store. Prices aren’t as bad as you think they would be. Oh, you might like to grab some bait and tackle at the local grocery store as well if you like to fish. If you don’t want to cook at all, don’t worry, there are plenty of places to eat. Alice’s Café, the pizza bar inside the grocery shop, the RSL, Bowls Club and the Bakery for a great pie. You can arrange to go to Macleay Island Bowls Club right on the waterfront where they will pick you up from the ferry and drop you back. Free inter island travel. Doesn’t get any better.
Arrive at Wahine Getaway and as soon as you enter the front door, you can’t help but let out a little squeal of delight as you take in the stunning water views with North Stradbroke Island as the back drop. Unpack your bags, load the fridge and grab a beer or champas and settle down on the deck, either on the day bed or the outdoor lounge and watch the boat traffic sail past.
Enjoy a walk to the end of Wahine Drive and enjoy the view at the top of the hill. Take a drive down to Sandy Beach and just enjoy the views from many different locations on Russell Island. There is plenty to keep you busy. If you don’t want to drive anywhere, we have a pool table, books to read, great television with Foxtel sports, movies and entertainment channel. We have cards to play or you might like to prepare a great meal with all the cooking facilities you need to prepare a gourmet feast for the friends or family.
