Positive: The location is perfect for my purposes; a few minutes' walk both to the train station and to my elderly parents' apartment. It was nice and quiet at night. Facilities were satisfactory, with a dishwasher, washing machine and iron for a potential stay with the family; a nice bathroom with a ledge and cabinet for storage and plenty of space to hang wet towels - a must for me. The bedrooms are a cute 3-bed space and a tight double, but my bed was clean and comfortable. The configuration of this historic flat is tubular, but the kitchen and dinner table create a cozy corner. Considering it's a family-sized flat during peak season it was good value for money.
Negative: Austria routinely has hot spells during the summer months and portable fans are a must. Although generally clean, there were important areas such as the ceramic stove top that had not been cleaned. Drawers had not been opened and I found a forgotten item hailing from the winter season. Dust on the skirting of my bedroom from hanging up pictures had not been vacuumed. I sent a summary of these observations with photos to the owner via booking.com and then received a WhatsApp message from an American number which I blocked, because the name was different from the contact I had received from booking.com. That message acknowledged some of what I had said but asked for photos, which had already been sent. All this to say, inspect your accommodation upon arrival and inform your booking agent so you are not charged for damage subsequently.
