LOCATION:
Ty'n Rhyd is located towards the westerly end of the idyllic, unspoiled Llŷn Peninsula, a protected Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and a unique landscape almost entirely unchanged for hundreds of years.
The coastline of the Llŷn Peninsula is simply stunning visually. Numerous sandy beaches and picturesque small coves make this area a fantastic holiday base for all ages and interests. Once discovered, you will return time and time again.
The Wales Coastal Path, accessible from close to the cottage, offers breathtaking scenic walks, and access to many hidden coves and beaches. The closest of these is the picturesque small cove of Porth Ysgo, just across the fields from the cottage, which was named the Second Best Beach in Wales in 2021 by The Times because of its atmospheric charm, and lack of commercialisation or crowds.
The famous Whistling Sands (Porthor) and Hell's Mouth (Porth Neigwl) beaches should not be missed, and just a little further along the southern coast of the peninsula lie the beautiful beaches of Abersoch and Pwllheli.
The cottage is situated in a stunning rural location, surrounded by farmland with distant sea views. It is just two miles from the historic and picturesque seaside village of Aberdaron, known as the 'Lands End of Wales'. This village has a long maritime history, and crab and lobster fishermen still ply their trade in small boats today. A local lobster fisherman's family owns the village fish and chip shop, with lobster tails frequently.on the menu!
A mile-long sandy beach, with excellent visitor facilities immediately to hand in the village, make Aberdaron a highly desirable and popular destination throughout the year. With its artisan bakery, well-stocked Spar for all your daily needs, cafes and coffee shops, take-aways, renowned fish and chip shop, and two family-friendly pubs, the village offers visitors of all ages everything that they could desire for a relaxing, 'away from it all' break.
Aberdaron can also boast of being the second sunniest place in mainland Britain in 2021, according to the Met Office.
Today the village is alive with the history and legends of its maritime past, accessible through the National Trust Visitor Centre in the village, Porth y Swnt. It is also famed as the last resting place of pilgrims before they made the perilous sea crossing to Bardsey Island (Ynys Enlli). The beautiful 12th century pilgrim's church of St Hywyn is a must to visit, perched above the bay.

A second cosy sitting room with TV ensures plenty of opportunity for all of the family to find a quiet place or own space. In addition a splendid, south-facing sun room/dining area will entice you to spend many hours just drinking in the panoramic views whilst dining, or just totally relaxing in the peace and quiet.
3 Bedrooms - 1 Kingsize and 1 Double on the ground floor, and a charming Twin 'crog-loft' room upstairs (2 full-size Single beds, limited headroom), which is a much-loved 'secret haven' for children. Plentiful storage for clothes in wardrobes and drawers.
A bright and beautifully fitted Bathroom with 'Mira' shower over the bath, hand basin, toilet, and heated towel rail completes the indoor accommodation.
Outside is a large, fully enclosed garden with small 'babbling brook' stream at the far end, offering ample recreation space for children to play and adults to relax in peace and privacy. A choice of outside dining areas and BBQ offer the prospect of plentiful al fresco dining.
