Summary: Our family enjoyed an OBX vacation, and stayed at Twice the Fun 1 from July 3rd – July 11th. There were 5 adults, and 2 children – ages 5 and 8. Prior to arrival the hosts communicated well with all the details. The Welcome Guide provided is very thorough, well thought out, and answers any questions you might have. The location is fantastic, with everything you need within walking distance or a VERY short drive. Having a grocery store so close, was a great perk as well. While a lot of things are in walking distance, we did rent a golf cart for the week, which I would highly recommend, as it makes getting around even easier. We rented beach chairs through the Cabana Services within Buck Island, so it was great to have our chairs ready and waiting when we arrived on the beach each day. The duplex itself is nice, with plenty of space to spread out and have privacy. The house is well represented in the pictures. You will definitely get your daily steps in with all of the stairs. The main living area was spacious and comfortable, with a nice sized dining room table for meals at home. The kitchen was stocked well with whatever we needed for cooking in. The amount of coffee that was provided to us during our stay was a nice surprise, and much appreciated. It was also great that we were provided plenty of PODS for the dishwasher and the washing machine, as we used them both multiple times. The lower area family/game room was also a nice additional space to have. We loved having the outdoor shower, especially for the kids. It made it so easy getting them all washed up after returning from the beach each day. While most of our stay was positive, there were a few negatives. Check in time was stated as 4 or after, and when we arrived the cleaning service was still not finished. In their haste to finish up, they didn’t leave us enough towels and washcloths and left no dish towels for the kitchen at all. We did request more be sent and we received them quickly. Our biggest negative was the temperature in the house. It is controlled by a Nest Thermostat and the hosts regulate it at 75 degrees, all hours, except 10pm – 6am. We completely understand the need to regulate it during certain times, and have stayed other places that do that, but not being able to start cooling it down until 10pm was a bit extreme. There are no ceiling fans in any of the bedrooms, so we purchased fans to make us more comfortable while we slept. Thank you.
