Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: Great location for amenities like corner shops, cafes, tavernas etc by foot, but also by car it's just a short 15min drive to Old Town, the airport, Kalithea. In the house there is plenty of space for a couple, with everything you would need (e.g. kettle, washing machine, iron, hairdryer etc). The shower is incredibly powerful which was fantastic after a hot day which we loved! Our host Georgios was very helpful and friendly, but kept a nice distance to allow us to enjoy our holiday. It was exceptionally clean but had the most stunning traditional Greek features like the pebble flooring, wooden ceiling and balcony bed. Koskinou is truly a "locals" area meaning it's very quiet and we didn't bump into another Brit! You definitely need a small car (if hiring) as some of the streets are nigh on impassable otherwise in anything other than a vespa!! We loved the adventure of it all. Ευχαριστούμε πολύ πολύ!!!
Negative: Personal preference, however we would have loved either fuller pillows or a second pillow each. The mattress was very comfortable though for us as it was a firm foam-based mattress. We're also used to (in Britain) a very regimented recycling system in-house, so it was a bit odd to just have one bin and not really know how to properly dispose of our food waste/recycling etc. The guide book was very good, but it would be helpful to those who haven't done their research to include details like disposing of toilet paper in the bin beside the loo (don't flush it!!) and a pre-warning about the church bells early morning on Saturday and Sunday. We actually appreciated the wake up call, but it might be a shock to some as they were quite loud. These are all nit-picking to be honest as we really loved our stay and would definitely stay again!!
Summary: Fantastic location, truly a traditional gem, a house living up to its name!
