Positive: The Spot in Funchal, Madeira, provided a pleasant stay with some definite highlights. Communication with the company was excellent—responsive and helpful throughout. We appreciated having a private parking spot, which is quite convenient on the hill where the apartment is located; a stronger car is definitely recommended for this area. The apartment featured effective air conditioning and a well-equipped kitchen, making our stay comfortable and practical. All locks operated smoothly using codes, adding to the ease of access and security. The laundry facilities included a washing machine, which was convenient, though a broom was missing. When we requested a standing clothes dryer, the company promptly provided one—this attentive communication was much appreciated. It would also be helpful to have clearer information about trash separation according to local regulations.
Negative: Apartment No. 5's position within the building was its main drawback. The main bedroom and living room windows faced a shared terrace that served as an entrance to another apartment, so we had to keep the rollos down for privacy. Unlike this, one of the bedroom windows overlooked Funchal Bay and didn’t require coverings. There is no balcony with seating and table to enjoy outdoor views, which was a bit disappointing. The pool area, located one level below and directly in front of another apartment, meant we were mindful of disturbing other guests. The shared terrace has enough sunbeds. Overall, The Spot is a good option, especially given its proximity to Levada do Piornais and the roughly 40-minute walk to Funchal center. I would recommend choosing a different apartment in the building other than No. 5 for better privacy and outdoor space.
