Come enjoy this lovely 'boat in' riverfront cottage near Wakefield, Quebec, Canada. Located on the majestic Gatineau River, 20 minutes north of Ottawa and 5 minutes from the artsy, quaint village of Wakefield (Quebec), 10 minutes from Old Chelsea and the Nordique spa, and 25 minutes from the National Capitol, Ottawa. You can enjoy all those sights and come home to this is a peaceful hideaway with great swimming and canoeing. If you don't want to leave the 'island', just a walk up a trail to a world class golf course (Mont Cascades) with full restaurant and bar, or cross the river to your car, parked right next to the boat launch dock and explore the trails and sights of the Gatineau park just 5 minutes away, or go for dinner or live music show in Wakefield.
The cottage itself is cosy with one bedroom with a double bed and an additional fold out futon couch in the livingroom. There is a large split level deck and small BBQ, and a large yard in front of the river with a fire pit and boat docks. There is a bunkie with two single bunks in it. Because we have no laundry facilities here, we ask you to bring your own sheets and towels, unless you are travelling internationally. We do NOT allow pets or smoking on the property. No exceptions to this, because of allergy considerations of other guests and the owners. On that note, we encourage you to use natural, unscented products during your stay and refrain from using incense or strong body spray or perfume inside the house. (You will also attract way less mosquitos if you are unscented!)
To get to the cottage you have to canoe across the river for 5 minutes, a delightful and easy paddle during which you can take in the natural beauty. Arriving feels like an island getaway. Come and relax at the River Island Hideaway.
